Mycelia — Idle Merge Grove
by Jordan Wegner
Media
Mycelia blends idle growth with deliberate merging and spatial puzzle-solving on a living hex grid. Spores sprout mushrooms that merge upward through twelve levels, with each cap growing faster when placed beside similarly-sized neighbors—rewarding thoughtful arrangement over random clicking. Resettable Fairy Rings let you bank permanent bonuses across runs, while offline gains and on-device privacy make this a meditative, low-pressure experience for players seeking strategy wrapped in biological theming.
About this game
Under the leaf litter, something is thinking.
Mycelia is an idle-merge hybrid: your spores buy sprouts, sprouts merge into brighter caps, and WHERE you place things matters. Every cap grows faster next to caps its own size or bigger — so the grove rewards tending, sorting, and the quiet satisfaction of a well-arranged board.
• A living hex board, 19 cells growing to 61
• Drag matching caps together to merge — twelve levels, lime-glow to white-hot
• Adjacency bonuses turn placement into strategy
• Merging two Mother Caps releases an hour of spores in one burst
• Fairy Rings: complete the circle, reset the board, keep the essence (+10% each, forever) and spend it at the Fairy Court
• Auto-sprouting, deep roots, Heartwood and more court gifts
• Turn the seasons: every Fairy Ring chooses one boon for the coming ring — spring's cheap sprouts, summer's stronger filaments, autumn's gilded essence, or winter's fast dark growth
• Rare lumen caps sprout gold and burn three times as bright — the glow survives every merge
• The Spore Almanac: reach a landmark and you discover a real mushroom species — fourteen to collect, each with its own boon. Keep a handful equipped; your loadout slots grow with every Fairy Ring, so which boons you carry is a choice that changes with your grove
• Errands of the Fairy Court: three small dares post at dawn — merge, weave, grow — each worth essence, and a full court day earns the court's favor
• The grove grows while you're away — deeper loam jars stretch the night to 8 or 24 hours
• Morning dew: a daily gift that grows with your streak (a missed day pauses it, never resets it)
• Entirely on-device: no account, no internet, nothing collected
Tend it for a minute or an hour. The mycelium doesn't mind. It remembers.
