Abyss Angler sends you deeper with each dive, steering your hook through shifting waters to catch fish, evade sharks, and collect specimens. You manually guide your line left and right as it sinks, managing weight and timing to reel in before predators strike or your hold fills. Upgrades to your vessel and fishing equipment let you explore further into the abyss, where stranger species and treasure chests await those who venture past 2,500 metres.
About this game
Abyss Angler is a fishing game about going a little deeper than you probably should.
You start on a life ring with a short line and one hook. Cast it, steer it down through the water, and see what takes the bait. Sell what you catch, buy more line, go back down. There is always another hundred metres, and something in it you have not seen yet.
You steer the line yourself
The hook is not on rails. Guide it left and right as it sinks, chase the shape you want, and start reeling before the hold fills up. Reeling is slow when you are heavy, which is exactly when it matters.
The sharks are not scenery
They patrol the deep water and they will take what you are carrying. When one turns towards you, reel. Getting home with a full hold is its own small victory.
Over 280 species
Herring and mackerel near the surface. Lanternfish, gulper eels and hatchetfish further down. Stranger things after that, all the way to the Forgotten Sea below 2,500 metres. Each one goes into your collection alongside the heaviest you have landed.
Chests from the deep
Some dives bring back more than fish. Crack them open and see what the sea was keeping.
A boat worth building
Nine upgrades, thirteen research projects in the lab, and eleven vessels to work through, from a life ring to a sport yacht. Each one changes how deep you reach and how much you bring back.
A sea that changes
Day turns to night. Clear water turns to rain, fog and storm. Rough weather pays better and brings rarer fish, if you are willing to go out in it.
Your crew keeps fishing while you are away
Fit the boat with nets and they carry on after you close the game. Come back to a full hold and a short report of what they pulled up.
