Vedelem is a 3rd-year game development student project. Build up from scratch in 3/4 of 1 Covid school year. So no classroom meetings, everything online!
They worked day and night with so much commitment and dedication. So yes, as the mother of one of the students, I am so proud of the whole team.
For what they have built in this short amount of time and circumstances.

A fresh take on the genre and don't let the "F2P" fool you into thinking this is some micro transaction fueled money grab. Its a school project that got totally out of hand and became a full-blown game. Congratz for the devs for making it, had a good time :)

I love this game. It's a great time-waster. The goal is just to survive as long as you can. You'll earn a score for every scenario you play. Next time you play, try to beat your highest score. That's it. Nothing complicated. The game is good for a couple of hours at a time. Any longer than that it starts to feel redundant, no matter which scenario you're on.
The fact that some college students put together a game this solid for practically nothing, instead of an international game company who spends millions of dollars on a game, says a lot. Hats off to these students, and may they move on to even better projects.
Game play is pretty simple. Gather resources (wood, stone, iron) which are used to construct buildings, defenses, upgrades, and soldiers. Most scenarios have a timer. After a bit of time, a mongol horde will attack. Every so often, another horde will attack. Keep the hordes from destroying your keep/castle. If your keep/castle is still standing when the timer runs out, you win the scenario.
PRO
1. Graphics - Pretty decent. Also decent level of detail. Can zoom in and out.
2. Price - It's free. Can't get any better than that. In fact, I'd say this is the BEST free game I've ever played.
CON
1. Maps - Not a lot of variety in the maps/scenery.

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/39971013/759d9019ad55b3438de96c3ad29b9a6378b1dd16.png Greetings Knights, First, we would like to thank everyone who checked out the game, gave us feedback, left a review, downloaded and played the game. We are now currently featured in the Steam Summer Sale frontpage. As a student project, this is a huge milestone for us and it would not have been possible without all of you! With this update we are bringing a lot of improvement to the game and a new shiny Game Mode for you to enjoy: Challenge Maps! Challenge Maps consist in a series of different scenarios with different characteristics: in some of them you can freely build your Castle without worrying about the Golden Horde, in other ones the Golden Horde will get even more aggressive than in Hard difficulty. Some of these maps are still experimental, let us know what you think about them and which ones are your favorite, we are all ears! We heard your feedback about Endless. We smoothened the difficulty curve along the entire experience. Talking about Mongolian business, here is the patch notes with all the major changes that this patch brings to the table. I’ll see the bravest Knights at the end: PATCH NOTES 1.1.5: New Features: New Game Mode: Challenge Maps are now available to play! You will be offered 13 different new maps, from relaxing scenarios where you are able to build your empire in peace to extreme difficulties where the Mongols will overwhelm you with their armies. Added 6 new shiny achievements for you to unlock! These achievements will challenge you to reach certain conditions in a single game! Visuals: Reworked terrain on the Skirmish (and Challenge Maps) selection screen. Added destruction animations to the Military Camp. Added destruction animations to Keep level 2 and Keep level 3 upon defeat. User Interface and User Experience: Changed text on the timer for Skirmish and Endless. Changed and improved text on some Védelemopedia topics. Replaced some old video on the Védelemoped...

We have been busy at work for weeks developing this update and we were able to improve the game only thanks to the feedback you gave us here on Steam, on our Discord channel or on our social media. This is the biggest update yet and contains a huge list of improvements and features. First of all, we released a new game mode: Endless!
