First off, graphics and voice acting are not great so if this is important to you I would not recommend, for me however, these elements added charm to the game. Patient is about a guy who wakes up in an asylum with no memory of how he got there. He is able to find a way to escape and sneak his way home to piece together what happened in his personal life that landed him in the asylum. There is also a random side plot at the beginning that doesn't really relate to the end of the game but looking back I got a good laugh out how out of place it felt. For the most part the game play was pretty straight forward for a point and click game and objectives were contained to a manageable environment area. Despite this, there were also points in the game where I would get stuck due to something being unclear, this game would benefit from an in game journal or note pad that fills in info found or tasks started during the game. The game had its flaws but I enjoyed my play through, because of this I do recommend the game but highly suggest that a sale pricing would be a better justification of purchase.
Pros:
- Subtitles are always on
- Short game length (3hrs for me, but could be done in 2hrs)
- Clickable items are clearly indicated
- There are some puzzles but nothing brain bending hard
Cons:
- Can’t load a mid-game save after you’ve beaten the game
- At times it was difficult to progress due to character dialog hiding new options in a previous conversation chain
- Game is not fully voice acted; main chapter parts are but mid chapter characters are not.
- The game is very linear but I am unsure how to unlock “The last wish” achievement
New player tips (may contain spoilers):
- Some items can be combined
- Every item you come across has a use
- Always have the item equipped that relates to the person you are talking to
