Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® 3 Gold

This is a fantastic game I've sunk a ton of hours into. One of the best RS games.
However, this is another classic release in which Steam has failed.

Here's what is wrong:

- Does not create proper shortcuts for Athena Sword.
- Does not install sounds correctly for Athena Sword (there is a work around).
- There is no Iron Wrath expansion, and in order to install it, it's a pain in the A-S-S. (note: easiest way to do this, is to copy all the files from your installed CD version or download the IW files already unpacked from someone's install)
- There are no default planning files for Athena Sword or Iron Wrath.
- It is definitely buggier than the disc version, probably in a large part due to the Steam overlay.
(update: after I turned off the steam overlay most crashing stopped)
- Intro movies do not play for Athena Sword or Iron Wrath, and I haven't discovered
a way to use or edit existing shorcuts to work with Steam version.

Here's what is right:

- No DRM
- You can install the Raven Shield 2.0 mod OR the online muliplayer patch, but not
both simultanously.

I'm giving it a luke warm recommendation if you get it cheap. My intention is to just use this version for MP, since most people who play this online use this version. Of course, you can patch the CD version as well, which works great. But all the fixes and tweaks for MP are usually focused around the Steam version. By using the Steam version, you can share in the pain.

Dear potential player or veteran R6:3 player:

Here is a new way to play Terrorist Hunt mode, in case you get bored.

Step 1: Take your team to your favorite room or area of the map, and take cover.
Step 2: Are you ready? Good. Now press ~ to open the console, and type 'callterro'.
Step 3: Smile. Every terrorist on the map is now rushing to your location :D
Step 4: Don't die.


Note: Not all terrorists come out of the woodwork. You might have to go out and hunt down the last couple. This doesn't work so well (at all) on the shipyard map for some reason. All in all, some maps work better than others with this little experiment.

I used to own this on XBOX back in the day, and i thought it would be the same game as on the xbox, but i was wrong. The xbox version of this game is very dumbed down and is basically half this game. This version of the game is far superior, and far superior looking as well. This game has some compatibility issues with windows 10 but there are guides out there that will help with just fixing a .ini file in the r6 folder. easy fix. 10/10 worth the buy.
