Brain Syndrome VR is an Early Access paid VR shooter game that one person made. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played so-so, sounded horrible. The graphics are low rez, and looked homemade . The music is homemade, very jarring, did not see a way to mute it. The video instructions did not help me much since it was using Quest type controller, while i have HTC Vive. The movement UI is not the same as other games like this.
The only saving grace was that you can also play this with your monitor using keyboard and mouse as a split screen Co-op game and maybe remote play together. If this was Free, it would have been ok to try but still needs a lot of work.

Don't buy this game especially on HTC Vive, there are better games for sale out there or for free.

I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program.

"Brain Syndrome VR" is a godawfully badly made homework assignment tier FPS arena shooter... I mean, imagine the worst FPS game ever, and this is it. DooM from the 1990's had better graphics than this.

What do you do in the game? You use standard issue pistols, face hordes of enemies (zombies, robots, etc.), and can play either in VR or standard FPS mode, with local multiplayer options... but it would be difficult to see one person playing this let alone more than one. It's a train wreck.

In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D graphics which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games.

It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $5 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. It's also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who paid money for this... nobody got refunded.

Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away.

Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it?

Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.

Latest updates

Controller support added

1291 days ago
The newest update now has a new movement setting in the menu to allow for controllers without touchpads to move. This was a issue at first since I only have one type of controller, but I believe that this update will fix problems with any controller. Also added are some level changes, mainly level 3, that improve the game slightly. If you have any feedback dear reader, please don't be afraid to comment.

3.1 update

Added an actual ending now, fixed some bugs, and added player death animations. Also main feature added was second player doesn't have to hit enter after every level to rejoin, making it easier to be immersed.

Big Music and level update

1385 days ago
I heard your feedback, and I'm pleased to announce that the strange and unsettling music of the past is no more! Look forward to awesome rock and metal tracks that will redefine the game in never thought of ways. This update isn't just a music patch though. It also comes with big level updates, that spice up the game and make it less repetitive and more fun to explore. Their is also a few minor gameplay changes as well, but nothing significant. Thank you for the feedback, and I hope you enjoy the game in it's new form. Is their something else that needs to be done? Let me know! My email is derrickcodewrassler@gmail.com
