A very good foundation for this Early Access bullet heaven title. The stylized 3D urban sci-fi vibe and look works out well, with an already polished and fun gameplay and a good power progression. It's a bit closer to those slow bullet heaven titles where the player is outgunned early on, but the movement speed and health levels mean it's feasible to properly crowd control large amounts of enemies with the correct weapons and perks. The game only launched today, at the time of this writing, and while there's various characters, ultimate abilities and levels to unlock and use, the latter even in harder Horde and Night modes, the variety of enemies, weapons and visuals is ultimately not too high, and even the permanent upgrades are playing it safe. In short, DEFCON: Xenos won't quite set the world on fire for originality and still has to finetune a couple aspects, but it's certainly one of the most enjoyable bullet heaven titles already and I'm excited about its future.
The game has full controller support, too.
