Coloring Game: Studio combines traditional paint-by-numbers relaxation with basic image editing tools, letting you color over 150 pixel artworks and customize them to your liking. The core appeal is meditative, methodical pixel coloring with a modest graphics editor built in—ideal for anyone seeking low-stress creative play or a wind-down activity after work.

Coloring Game: Studio is the latest game in the Coloring Game franchise. For those who are not aware, they are color by number games that have you coloring in, pixel-by-pixel, artworks that are provided for you in the game. The other games in the series are just that, however, this game allows you to edit the images already in the game to make them your own.

That is what makes this game different than all of the others.

Overall, 90 images are provided for you in this game, with a total of 2,508,400 pixels for you to color in, which could take up to 100-200 hours to do so if using pencil mode (I'd estimate completion time to be vastly lower if using the fill mode. The subject matter for the artwork is pretty much all over the place, providing you with a good amount of imagery to pick from. There are several images whose subject matter I just don't like, and then there are those images that are literally this developer's hallmark, which are four different shades of green. I don't particularly like that this developer continues to make images using just this color scheme as it makes for a boring and dull coloring experience. Thankfully, this is not the case for a lot of the images in this game.

This game would really benefit from Steam Workshop integration. Hopefully, this is planned in the future.

Next, we come to whether the game is worth the current asking price. I cannot make up my mind on whether or not this game is worth the current asking price. Part of me wants to say that the price is a bit on the high side and that you should hold off on buying it until later, but the other part of me wants to say that the artwork of the game makes the game worth it. I'll leave this up for you to decide on your own.

Depending upon your answer to the question above is whether or not this game should be recommended to you. If you said it is worth it, then yes, it is a definite recommendation, especially if you like these kind of games, but if the answer to the above is no, then I would hold off on buying it until it leaves Early Access.

My personal opinion on the matter is that I would recommend this game if you liked the previous games in this franchise. Otherwise, hold off until this game leaves Early Access.

NOTE: You must COMPLETE an artwork first in order to be able to edit it.

This review has undergone several edits since it was originally posted. Because of this, some of the opinions expressed in this review have changed over the course of the time this review has been up. The review you see now is the final version of this review for this game.

Edit: I have tallied the total amount of pixels in this game. The first 30 images have 761,775 pixels, the second 30 have 987,500 pixels and the final 30 have 759,300 pixels for a total of 2,508,400 pixels.

If you have played any of the previous games from the Coloring Game series, then you know exactly what awaits you. I'm almost 40 now but I love to color some pixels in these deeply relaxing games after a stressful day at work. If you want to figure out whether you would like this type of game or not, let it be said that most of the previous Coloring Game games were free-to-play, so you can check these out on the developer's store here on Stream first.

Also, I want to express my gratitude to the developer, who gave me a key for the previous game "Coloring Game: Girls" back when it was released, which I cannot buy directly on Steam here in Germany due to Steam's restrictions on games that are labelled as "adult only".

Added export function for custom images. The export format is PNG. The size of the image when exporting will correspond to the size of the image on the screen (in other words, the scale affects the size). You can export uncolored, partially colored and fully colored images. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43398325/3d1941776838d67e3b51e9196f38a6d49fdf0556.png

Update 1.0.2

Added mode selection when reducing the color palette. UPD: The new mode works for images that have an original palette of 512 colors or less. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43398325/49989a9791c5276ea7f079c5d9b5c986cf30cb68.png Previously, only one mode - absorption mode - worked when reducing colors. The color with the smallest number of pixel occurrences was removed from a pair of colors (close in the palette), and its pixels were recolored in the remaining color. Now a new mode - color mixing - has been added. In a pair of colors, taking into account their weight (the number of pixels of a given color) is mixed and a new color appears, which is used to paint all the pixels of this pair of colors. On the example of this picture, you can see how it works when you reduce the palette by two colors. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43398325/00286928eb8f9015cc063eefe91b430955d0adf0.png Original picture, 10 colors. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43398325/ca7e09eb84f67eb303bce6f19498136b21da50c8.png Absorption mode, 8 colors. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43398325/cbf02d81eff0fec90a941fb8a0c0d1e94ee1078e.png Mixing mode, 8 colors. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43398325/aef869da599ef6ff06b8337002ba1c023f3cc377.gif Comparison of modes. In the coming days, the same mode will be added to CG:5. If you suddenly missed the release of Coloring Game: Girls 2, hurry up. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3246900/Coloring_Game_Girls_2/
