Idle Cave Miner tasks you with mining gems, crafting items, and recruiting miners across escalating mine depths. The game cycles through prestige resets to build strength, but reviews consistently flag aggressive monetization: core convenience features like auto-clicker and fast-reset require premium currency purchases totaling tens of dollars, with many achievements locked behind paywalls. Best suited for players comfortable with cosmetic-only monetization in single-player idle games.

Seems like a nice game and I would like to play it more, but pay to win in a paid single player game.

Good Idle but ruined by the unpleasantness of the micropayments.

Achieving certain achievements is impossible because it requires premium currency that is earned very very little. and to pay for them you must spend hundreds of dollars.

Resetting is bad and slow unless you pay with premium currency.

Idle Cave Miner

Idle Cave Miner is a solid idle game that had promise if not for the fact it has been abandoned for it's sequel, It wouldn't be a problem if it was left in a state where the gameplay loop was finished but there are a bunch of upgrades and late-game stuff that never lead anywhere because it's no longer being developed, why bother spending huge amounts of premium currency on certain upgrades if I can finish everything the game has to offer without ever needing them?

Gameplay

The best parts of this game are probably the early parts, you mine with both manual tapping and miners, these can be scaled in strength in many ways, pushing you further and further into the mines, with each mine you unlock giving you access to different resources as you go deeper.

The Prestige system (Ascensions) is very forgiving, it resets you to the bottom floor of the mine but the upgrades you gain are almost always worth it, and it takes no time at all to get back to your highest floor.

The forge system is what makes this game interesting, all ores mined can be smelted and crafted together to use for various basic and stronger upgrades. However some of these upgrades take tens of thousands of late=game crafted resources to gain buffs that lead nowhere, the dev clearly had a vision for future updates with upgrades leading toward it and then moved on to the sequel.

Your offline time is limited to like 6 hours when you start but you can increase it with the upgrades. The end-game is essentially just logging in every 8 hours to collect offline gains to finish achievements since that's really the only goal in the game. Ultimately it ends up feeling more tedious to complete than anything and I'm hoping the sequel keeps up with updates.

Achievements (18/18)

The achievements are quite the grind due to the fact that your offline time is limited, so you have to constantly log in daily to make progress towards the grindier achievements

Settings/Accessibility/Misc

Cross-Compatible save with the mobile version, mobile version can be used to double rewards and gain premium currency. Only Mouse support (?). 9 languages supported.

TL;DR

Unique idle game that was abandoned for it's sequel. Forgiving ascensions. Multiple mines to unlock and progress through. Limited offline time. Ultimately becomes tedious. Grindy achievements.
