Hot Springs is an idle game centered on managing a Japanese hot spring resort, featuring idle progression mechanics, decorative customization, and relaxing minigames. The game includes a messaging system that connects players, though this social feature has drawn criticism for moderation issues. Development appears to have been discontinued, leaving the game in an incomplete state with documented bugs and balance problems.

There is a mechanic in the game that allows anyone to send off messages to any random person they arrive at. In the three hours I played, I received someone's personal contact information, a message about how they don't think certain groups should be allowed to exist, and yet another about masturbation. Sure, you can report them, but that's not an effective measure at preventing this stuff from being sent or received. That's a massive design oversight. Please fix this.

UPDATE:
Editing my review from 20 December, 2024
to the present 1 June, 2025

I’ve already stopped playing this game, but I really loved it and even met some cool people through it.

The game had so much potential. It was developed by a single dev who, unfortunately, had to abandon it and move on to other projects due to the lack of profit. I remember the dev being very active and responsive to bug reports, which was great to see.

I think the game’s main downfall was the lack of promotion and marketing—it just never reached the wider audience it deserved.

To anyone wondering if they should get this game: I’d still say yes, especially if you enjoy tinkering with items and designing your own Onsen. Definitely grab it during a sale—it’s only a few bucks.

There are bugs, but from what I remember, nothing game-breaking or too annoying.

If you're aiming for 100% achievements, manage your expectations—some of them might not pop properly.

Overall, it’s a charming little game that sadly never got the attention it deserved. Worth checking out if you're into cozy customization, just don’t expect long-term support.

This game had been sitting on my wishlist for quite some time, and I finally decided to give it a try now that it’s on the winter sale.

Pros:

🍀Stunning, beautifully crafted graphics.
🍀Relaxing oriental music that sets a calming atmosphere.
🍀The freedom to design and customize your onsen.
🍀Option to plant vegetables and farm them for Zen points, adding a satisfying progression system.
🍀Ability to add charming elements like cats and koi fish for a personalized touch.
🍀Ideal for people who enjoy relaxing at home—whether studying, working, or even just taking a break.
🍀There's a mini game like cooking which was a neat feature.

Areas for Improvement:

🌱 The item placement system could be more intuitive; currently, each item must be placed individually. A continuous placement mode with a deselect option would enhance usability.
🌱 There are occasional bugs with vegetables planted close together, where some crops cannot be harvested, even after repositioning. Possible bug.
🌱 The action icons for harvesting, moving, and deleting/digging are placed too closely together, leading to accidental actions. It would be helpful if these icons disappeared when moving to the next crop.
🌱 There are still bugs here and there like the raised bed disappearing but the devs seem to be actively listening to the comments.

Incomplete game with lots of bugs and design flaws, and apparently further development has been abandoned.

Notice: Upcoming Server Changes (Completed)

Update: We completed the migration to the new server on February 10, 2026. From now on, all of your online data will continue to be stored and handled on the new server.Hello everyone, this is an important announcement regarding the game’s server. If you have been using (or are currently using) the game’s online features, please read the following. At the moment, most of the games in our ecosystem no longer generate revenue, or their revenue is below the level needed to cover ongoing server maintenance. This means we have been using personal funds to keep the servers running. Due to financial difficulties, we are unable to continue paying the high maintenance costs, so we have been looking for alternative server providers with the lowest possible cost to sustain the service. Therefore:We will migrate the game’s server to a new server in the near future. This will come with a game update that will point the game to the new server instead of the current one.All online game data will be transferred to the new server. To support this, we will back up all data up to and including the time of this announcement. This means any data / progress generated after this announcement will not appear on the new server. You will be able to continue from your current progress (as of the time of this announcement) on the new server afterward.Sincerely,

Fix bug where color changes on certain avatar details are not saved.

Update 1.2.0

Fixed a bug where the cat sometimes moved in place. Fixed a bug where glasses didn’t disappear from the avatar even after being removed when returning to the garden. Added a check for the achievements "Koi Collector" and "Cat Nurturer" when starting the game. If you believe these achievements were earned but didn’t pop or update, restart the game to resolve the issue.
