Work the register at a dystopian grocery store where you balance serving customers with enforcing state regulations, risking infractions or worse for missteps. The core loop mirrors Papers Please but trades border control for retail, letting you manipulate systems and make morally ambiguous decisions as you manage your station and personal survival. A darkly satirical game with a responsive developer, best suited for players seeking choice-driven narrative experiences with absurdist humor.

Miss clicked and arrested a innocent civilian and did not get a infraction. Great game.
It's like Papers Please if you were running a grocery store in a dystopian future. While the political satire can be a little heavy handed at times, the core gameplay loop is really fun.
Also worth mentioning the developer is super involved and has been patching bugs within like an hour of them being reported on the forums.
Emerges from his cave completely disheveled and is blinded by the sunlight...👋 Hello dear Nowherians and lovers of bureaucracy! How are you all doing? I hope you're doing great.First of all, I'd like to apologize. My plan was to release an update a few weeks ago featuring feedback I had gathered over this period, but a mountain of paperwork and the need to disconnect for a while ended up forcing me to postpone it. Fortunately, everything is back on track now, so I hope to have news regarding that very soon. Now, moving on to the main reason for this post, I'd like to share how I plan to handle the new languages that will be added to The State of Nowhere after giving the matter a lot of thought.Since I can't afford professional translations and, at the same time, I want the game to be available in more languages, I've decided to use an AI-assisted translation system supported by detailed context for each line. This will take some time, as I need to write contextual information for every translatable line in the game and also develop several scripts to make the translations as accurate as possible. I am aware that this method has its limitations, which is why I will also provide a public GitHub repository where interested players will be able to suggest corrections and improvements. With that explained, here's the language roadmap I've planned. It will consist of five updates, organized according to the technical complexity involved in implementing each language group.Update 1PortugueseFrenchGermanItalianPolishTurkishRomanianUpdate 2RussianUkrainianUpdate 3KoreanUpdate 4JapaneseUpdate 5Simplified ChineseBased on my estimates of the work involved, I hope to release the first language update by the end of July, if everything goes according to plan.As a final note, once this roadmap has been completed, I will evaluate the possibility of adding more languages in future updates. Just because a language is not listed here does not mean it won't be considered in the future.With...
Hello dear Nowherians! 👋 I’m happy to announce that a new update is now available, bringing the following features:A statistics menu where you can track your overall in-game progress.A collectibles menu where you can view all available achievements, as well as all endings with a brief guiding description. The game will now check on startup for any unlocked achievements that were not registered on Steam. This allows you to earn achievements offline and automatically sync them once you launch the game again.🚧 What’s next? Next, I’ll be working on an update based on all the feedback gathered so far, which—if everything goes well—should be ready in early May. During this time, I’d also like to evaluate the feasibility of integrating Steam Workshop so the community can have tools to enjoy the game in their own language. More news on this soon! 🌍That’s all for now. Thank you all so much for your support, and may Maligno guide you! 🙏— Abel ✨
