Warning: AI Slop
The visuals in this e-book are made with talentless, soulless AI generated content.
在一切晴朗的日子里|On all clear days is not a game, it's an e-book slapped together with the godawfully bad Webgal Visual Novel/E-Book construction kit. No professional writing took place here, and no professional game development took place either - it's just a product of filling out templates in the construction kit.
Tagged as a dating sim, this e-book is as creepy and cringey as you could imagine. Like almost all e-book garbage on Steam, this is a nauseatingly cringey disaster about the author and his imaginary anime girlfriend. But it gets so much worse with this one, because the author relates his fantasy of dating his own sister.
Noah, get the boat.
Now, don't worry too much because the author has apparently got the attention span of a 5 year old with ADHD so "something" happens before he can have any luck with his imaginary anime girlfriend/sister, but the cringe of it all remains.
Visual novels/e-books are the worst way to try read a book (and they're always written far worse than real books too). Imagine reading your favorite book, be that War and Peace or The Davinci Code (are you ok??), but you have to click the mouse for every single sentence that appears. You'd hate it. It's a garbage way to try read a book... and even if it wasn't, this still isn't a game.
Now take that annoying clicking and add utterly cringey high-school anime club dropout writing to it (who else could write an ebook about the author dating his sister). Real authors are published in print and found in Barnes & Noble. This garbage only ended up on Steam because they paid $100 to self-publish, because let's face it, professional publishers would not only reject this garbage they saw it, they'd take out restraining orders.
As mentioned, this features really godawful, "wrong" looking AI slop instead of genuinely and sincerely created game assets. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating real game assets or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision. AI slop sticks out like a sore thumb... and it comes across as insulting.
There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too, and that's glaringly obvious here.
Those technical flaws drag this E-Book well below the minimum quality standards expected of a modern PC game.
Let's talk about price and the value this represents for us gamers. Should you buy this E-Book? Is it among the best the Steam catalogue has to offer?
在一切晴朗的日子里|On all clear days is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. This is also competing with over 14,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product. Yeah, this guy wants to charge you $2 to read about how he wants to date his sister. Puke.
There's enough defects and quality problems with this E-Book that it's really impossible to recommend to gamers.
The use of AI slop is a direct insult to gamers and real, ethical content creators and artists everywhere. AI models are trained on copyrighted intellectual property without permission from the owners. Using AI slop in a published product should be seen as supporting these copyright violations.
