When I saw this title in the Indiegems curator, I was so hyped to jump in. I'm looking forward to the claw machine, pachinko, and gacha, mainly because they seem rare to come by on Steam, and I love playing them. But I didn’t last long, and now, with a heavy heart, I have to say that I cannot recommend this one just yet. Perhaps at a later time, maybe after some improvement. But for now, it’s a no for me as I have no desire or feeling after my slime dying to hop back in. I don’t even know why it died; it just did. Probably because the bar went down, but I don’t understand why… And that’s a bit of my main issue with the game. It’s not clear, none of it.
Sure, I can open some lockers, buy a gacha, spend coins to try and open a building, buy a drink at the vending machine, etc… But no real how or what or how to keep my slime alive, how to make money. Which I think are essential key points to keep the game going.
Due to the lack of clarity, I didn’t get very far. And most of the time it was me bouncing around, patato-ing, trying to figure it all out.
I’ve also noticed there was one key at the temple that I couldn’t reach because the slime was too big.
Nonetheless, I do see potential in it for it to be a fun little niche game! So, I genuinely hope that the dev or small team doesn’t see my thumbs down as a bad thing, but rather as a motivator to improve on the game so I can flip it to a thumbs up at some point. :3
A good start would be some clarity on what we need to do to keep our slime alive. Is it feeding it? Is it like a little life sim? Do we have to keep the stats in mind, even though it’s only one bar?
How to be consistent to earn money? Since atm it feels like no profit can be made, at all. Yes, I found the ‘put vending machines on corners’, but they didn’t seem to bring in that much. And yes, I got some money out of the lockers, but it never took long for me to be broke, left with nothing to do since I had nowhere to close to upgrade and open a new building, which might potentially bring in more of that needed money.
Not to mention, the store page states this is a single-player game, but you mention multiplayer? Are these NPCs from whom you can buy your stuff, or is this meant for a lot of people in real life to be connected through the game?
In the end, I feel like this game doesn’t really know what it wants to be. It had a few great ideas, but they were merged in the wrong way, turning it into a bit of a hot mess. I genuinely hope they figure it out eventually, putting some direction and sense into it. As I mentioned, I was looking forward to some of the mini games, and I do see potential in them. So, toes crossed for the future, hoping to improve on it one day.
-Normally, I add some screenshots here, but the game wouldn't let me take any o_o ... yikkes!-
I would be super grateful if you could consider following me over at the following places for more first looks, reviews, recommendations, etc:
