TALPA! is a surreal and surprising arcade that turns a simple idea into a visually original and narratively evocative experience. In the shoes (or rather: in the mind) of a child who falls asleep during class, we find ourselves catapulted into a dream world of bizarre moles, industrial lights and strange factory machines. School reality dissolves and leaves room for a living dream, drawn as if it were an animated notebook, where all that matters is to hit - with perfect timing - the creatures that emerge from the protagonist's psyche.
The gameplay is straightforward: press F to shoot down the moles that emerge from the mind pools. But don't be fooled: behind the simplicity lies a fast pace, where every mistake can jeopardise your race for the highest score. Every well-struck blow adds precious points, while every ‘miss’ makes itself felt. Complicating everything is a visual system that alternates between soft lighting and flashes of clarity, creating a tense, surreal atmosphere that keeps you glued to the screen.
The art style is one of the game's strong points: thick black and white lines, carefully dosed touches of colour, and creatures with strong personalities emerging from dreams like deformed childlike symbols. The settings resemble a cross between an abandoned factory and a mental theatre, where every detail tells something about the mind of the protagonist. And then there is a secret: the hammer can evolve into the legendary Mjöllnir, symbol of strength and redemption. But only those who dare and remain focused will be able to unlock it.
TALPA! is ideal for short but intense sessions, perfect for those who like arcade games with a strong visual identity and a subtle but present narrative vein. A great little journey between dream and reality, between hammer blows and childlike introspection. Sparkling, artistic, and capable of surprising.
