Desktop Town lets you build and customize a miniature city directly on your desktop while you work, with autonomous citizens populating your creation. The game emphasizes relaxed building and decoration over heavy mechanics, making it suitable for background play during other tasks, though some players note limited decoration variety and cumbersome editing features.

I've played the demo and thought it was a real good start. There are many issues with this builder. First, one should be able to use the scroll wheel to enlarge the working surface. Secondly, to delete a prior mistake beyond your last update, the game has to go through a whole process which I'm not a fan of. There aren't many decorations, and the game really hasn't improved since the demo. There aren't enough items to build with and the UI isn't as friendly as other builders I've played. With updates, this builder can be special, but in it's current state I wouldn't recommend.

I love desktop games! With this one I got a cute ciy builder with vacation vibes.
It's nice to see the people running around. But unlocking new tiles is the best!
It adds to the variation of your little town, which is beautiful ~

A cozy game with lofi style background music.
I put it on while working and when i take a break i place some stuff down.
First town was a basic one but once i started experimenting i could make some surreal stuff would recommend.

Showcasing Desktop Towns Week #1

In just the first week after release, many of you have already shared your amazing Desktop Towns. So today, we want to celebrate two creations that stood out and take a closer look at two fantastic towns from the community! 1. The Island of TowersCreator: ChaoskindChaoskind sent us an incredible island build that immediately caught our attention. It's not only huge in scale, but also beautifully planned and effortlessly atmospheric. Some of our favorite highlights:A relaxing beach area perfect for unwindingA creative approach in building a lighthouse watching over the seaAn archway spanning across the tramline, leading into tight, cozy alleywaysThe detached, Venice-like tower structures you can find at the topIt's a stunning piece of work! 2. The HotelCreator: mrtimbThis build shows just how many creative directions you can take in Desktop Town. mrtimb's hotel features a clean, perfectly parallel architectural style, complemented by a charming flower and tree garden. And of course, the premium balcony overlooking the entrance gives the whole place a luxurious vibe, though we're still not entirely sure whether the building is haunted or not. Either way, it definitely caught our eye! ------------------------------------------- We love seeing what you create, and we want to showcase even more community builds in the future. If you'd like to be featured, post your towns on our Discord or upload your screenshots. We can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
