So, lemme start my review with the final result of my gameplay session so far: They took everything that made Max Manos great and put it into the game as a post-campaign afterthought. Very, very disappointing. Alright, now for the actual critique: Max Manos was a really cool short incremental game in which every time you prestige the game play drastically changed. You start with hovering your hand over the enemies to deal damage, then suddenly your hand shoots little fits which deal damage, or you're not in control of your hand at all, instead you have little helper hands flying about turning the game into a complete passive game play experience, that only lives off of you cleverly upgrading! Upgrades changed and you had a frickton of fun! Here? You get that! But... only slightly. And only in a very, very weak version of its former glory. Max Manos 2 sees you play through a tower of 201 floors with the ultimate goal of defeating a new nemesis, every few floors you gain an unlockable, or upgrade the difficulty of the tower you are climbing significantly. This means your upgrading usually consists of: whatever, whatever, whatever, the new doo-dad you found, then panic-pump everything you have into stamina because suddenly you barely survive a single floor after surviving 10 floors with ease beforehand! Upgrading doesn't feel nice, you do not know what kind of difference your upgrades make, you do not see or feel how much stronger you become until you reach the absolute final upgrade of the tree and overall, you simply have no clue if making it another 5 floors was intentional or sheer luck. Then, once you finish the "campaign" you get the option to return with funny quirky modifiers to your gameplay, 4 exist it seems, 2 I have unlocked by the time of this review. Looking forward to playing through the game again with these modifiers, but it is sad they are only relevant AFTER finishing the game in its entirety. I dunno, right now, I won't recommend Max Manos 2. It's tedious, it lacks the feelgood of a "number go up" game, it makes design decisions that I can't understand (like clicking on a spawning set of stairs to advance between "battle" stages, or forcing some random rooms on you) and it lacks many many maaaany of the cool features Max Manos 1 had. Here's to hoping Max Manos 3 will return to its roots and become ultra flashy, ultra fun and quirky again!

Fun like the first but very, very short. Kinda seems like a scam to release a sequel with significantly less content than the original. Not worth the price.

Max Manos 1 was more fun. This game is okay to play through, but there are some gameplay issues that didn't enjoy: 1. I played the demo a while ago and forgot how slow the start was. When you pass first milestone, then you notice a change in shorter floor runs. In the beginning your stamina lasts forever that slows your iterations over upgrades. 2. Majority of the time upgrades didn't make any difference and sometimes I could fly through 10 floors. It didn't matter what I pick in the end of the day, and was a pure luck to guess what can help to overcome the barrier. 3. 200 floors looks too much to grind as a goal, Clicking stairs in the middle is also not fun to transition between floors. It would be more fun to auto transition. 4. I remember mobs in the beginning because I spent more time there, but then it didn't matter what's flashing on my screen. I know that devs put some effort in variety of mobs, but can't remember a single thing. 5. Story and annoying chatting things. 6. For 3 hours I only got gold room twice. I noticed differences between the rooms mechanics in the beginning, but it didn't matter in the end. Also the randomness is kinda weird, couldn't experience them all in a full run. There are more thoughts on gameplay, but I'll stop there.
