A desktop fishing idle game where a chubby black cat quietly catches fish in a corner window while you work. Collect species for an encyclopedia, earn money, and unlock cute outfits to customize your feline companion. Best suited for players who enjoy low-pressure background games and cat-themed aesthetics, though it offers fewer features than similar titles in the genre.

This is basically the 100% copy-cat clone version of CornerPond but with less features and slapped on with a Cat Theme graphic. Not that this is a bad game, but it lacks so much compared to the original that inspired this game...

In compare, this game lacks:
[1] Quest/Task
[2] Contents like fishes/cosmetics/the travel mouse shop
[3] The ability to see through to the background (the sky and all that is blocking the view making this a bad desktop companion in compare)
[4] More resize options
[5] Coding efficiency by compare
[6] Mouse respond by compare
[7] Steam snapshot compatibility

For those curious, you should actually try out the original game who inspired this, it has so much more to offer imo.

This is a cute fishing idle game that plays like a simpler version of Corner pond. The only issue i have had with this game is that the Cloud Island level is very laggy and everything operates very slowly. Otherwise, I had no other issues with this.

Cute concept, but the current experience is hard to recommend.

Desktop Fishing Cat has a charming idea, and the cat itself is cute. However, the actual gameplay experience is dragged down by optimization issues, awkward UI problems, and a strangely unsatisfying idle-game structure.

  • Severe performance issues on Cloud Island

The biggest problem for me is the Cloud Island map. On this map, the frame rate drops dramatically, almost as if the game’s performance is cut in half. For a desktop idle game that is supposed to stay open in the background, this is a serious issue. A game like this should feel lightweight and comfortable to leave running, but Cloud Island makes it noticeably unpleasant.
  • UI and settings issues

The settings menu also feels unfinished. Some parts of the settings interface do not properly follow the selected game language. The scrollbar on the side also feels like decoration rather than a working UI element, because dragging it does not seem to respond properly. These are small issues individually, but together they make the game feel rough and inconvenient.
  • The idle gameplay does not feel smooth or rewarding

As an idle game, the experience is oddly frustrating. You need to keep refilling bait, and larger fish are difficult to catch through idle mode. Combined with the optimization problems, the game becomes hard to leave running for a long time with confidence.

At the same time, manually playing the game is not very engaging either. The game is clearly designed around idle progression, but the idle rewards do not feel proportional to the amount of growth and upgrades the game expects from the player. So the result feels awkward: it is not comfortable enough as an idle game, but it is also too repetitive to be enjoyable as an active fishing game.

Overall, the concept is cute and there is potential here, but the current version needs better optimization, a more polished UI, and a more satisfying idle progression system. Until those issues are improved, I cannot recommend it.
