The Neeblarium is a low-pressure artificial life simulator where you design habitats and observe digital creatures evolve across generations. As populations develop naturally, you'll witness genetic drift, trait inheritance, and emergent social behaviors—making it as much science experiment as interactive art piece. It appeals to players seeking meditative gameplay with genuine educational depth about evolution and biology.

This game strikes a great balance between ASMR and Science Project. I think it should be used as a class project for kids all over, especially as they learn about genetics and social structure management. Love it!

New build! 04.20

It's been a while, but excited to share a new build. The Neeblarium feels a little more alive. Neeblies now have more small moments, sounds, memories, growth beats, and colony milestones to notice as you care for them. Toys got a big comfort pass: they can be placed, picked up, returned to the tray, saved properly, and even tidied back home by helpful adult Neeblies when they wander too far. The inspection lens has been polished into a clearer, cozier study tool, with better placement over your Neeblie and a more natural feel. This update also adds gentler onboarding hints, improved language support, cleaner options, safer saves, better backup recovery, and a handful of UI comfort fixes for readability and accessibility.

Under the Surface

It’s been a little quiet on the surface, so I wanted to share what’s been taking shape behind the glass. At a high level, I’ve been reworking one of the most fundamental parts of the simulation:Neeblies are becoming more self-directed.Less “follow a script.” More “decide, learn, adapt.” This is groundwork, not a playable update yet.You won’t see these changes in your current build—but they’re what the next major updates are being built on.🌿 A Shift in How Neeblies ThinkUntil now, Neeblies mostly responded to the world in fairly predictable ways. What’s changing is where decisions come from.Going forward:Each Neeblie decides when something is worth thinking aboutNeeds aren’t simple on/off states, but competing pressuresPast experiences matterPersonal tendencies matterThe world presents situations. Neeblies decide how (or if) to respond. This opens the door to behavior that feels observed, not authored.🧠 What This Makes PossibleThis foundation allows Neeblies to:React differently to the same situationLearn from outcomes over timeDevelop preferences instead of fixed routinesPass useful behaviors to offspringForm local patterns that persist across generationsYou won’t see explicit rules like:“Go eat now.” “Return home.”Instead, behavior emerges from:“Something feels off → I remember what worked → I try.”That’s where the magic starts to happen.🔧 What’s Actively Being BuiltThere are two threads of work moving together:1. The Long-Term ModelThis defines what “fully alive” Neeblies should look like:Motivation driven by layered pressuresShort-term awareness, long-term memoryLearning through success and failureYoung Neeblies imitating successful adultsA small set of simple actions combining into complex behaviorThis work sets the destination, even if not everything arrives at once.2. The Practical FoundationThis is the version that noticeably changes the game:Neeblies choose when to evaluate their situationPerception, memory, learning, and imitation are now distinct systemsThe...

Your saves are safer, progression reads more clearly, and the world behaves more predictably as it grows. As always, feedback from keepers continues to shape where things go next.
