Birdwatching Notebook is a minimal idle game where you place a small window on your screen to passively attract visiting birds and collect feathers. You photograph species, trade resources, and unlock new habitats while the game runs quietly in the background, designed to provide gentle companionship without demanding attention. It appeals to players seeking relaxing, low-pressure experiences with charming pixel art and those who enjoy collecting and observation mechanics.

I came across this game while browsing new releases, the name caught my eye, sounds funny, so I gave it a try – and honestly, I'm really enjoying it.
Replayability

What surprised me most is that it doesn't get boring quickly at all. In fact, I wanna say it has surprisingly high replayability. lemme break down why, based on these systems:
1. Trading – Sell dropped feathers and other stuff to a crow for coins, then use the coins to upgrade or build new things.

2. Upgrade – Unlocks new birds and new buildings, and maybe more, but I don't know yet.

3. The notebook & photo system – I think they are the real gems. To fully complete a bird's entry, you need to shoot photos of different behaviors - walking, flying, idling, feeding, etc. It does sound simple, but trust me, unlocking everything will take lotta time (I'm still stuck in BALCONY ;p).

4. Building – I really want to emphasize this one. There are tons of content waiting to be unlocked – decorations, structures, little details – that you can keep working on your bird area for a very long time. which means you can create a bird area that's truly yours with all the stuff.
Graphics

And don't let the pixel art fool you. The pixel art looks cozy but the game has more. The birds' movements are incredibly lively and full of details. The moment that surprised me for the first time was when I saw a sparrow turn its head to preen its feathers. That was really wow.

And another detail that surprised me even more - when I was looking through the notebook, I noticed that for birds species where males and females look different in real life, the game actually distinguishes them visually. That's how I know they really care, and really know the birds!
Tips maybe

Don't spend your early coins on decorations like frames, windows, or backgrounds. They do look nice, but they won't help you progress. Coins are much better spent on upgrading and building things like platforms or food carts. These directly attract more birds, which means more feathers, more photos, and more coins in the long run.
Bugs maybe

It says I can auto-pick up feathers at level 4, but seems nothing happens...
nah, no bugs, it's not the way that auto-picks up feathers immediately, it takes a bit.

Give it a 9/10 for its price, content, cozy vibe and the efforts Devs put in, will spend more time on it.
A few things added after putting another 10 hours into it

This is a desktop idle game, so if you just sit there staring at it the whole time, you will get bored.
But if you let it run in the background while you do other stuff, and then find your whole screen covered in feathers, that's pretty satisfying.
Pick em all up, trade em for coins, then blow those coins on upgrades and decorations – real fun!

Ah, about the photo system. If you're not a completionist, or don't know birds that well – trying to catch specific behaviors will be your huge pain, you'll be waiting forever...so, my advice is to shoot whatever photos happen naturally, or you will get bored too.

Even if it makes me feel a little bored now, but how many games can I keep playing for hours and hours? So it's still a 9/10 to me.
But if you really mind the things newly added above, this game may not bring you as much fun as you expect.

Thank you if you read all my bullsheet ;)
Have a good day, and good fun, mates.

A very lovely game with a beautiful soundtrack and wonderful pixel art! I can tell that a lot of love and passion was put into this game, and as a huge fan of birds, it has been such a charming experience so far. I can't wait to sink more time into this game and discover more birds and habitats!

The interface is really easy to use and it is easy to watch the birds while you are doing other tasks. If you love birds and nature, this would be a perfect game for you!
