Unlock different alien races and gradually expand your empire with minimal strategic demands, making it ideal for unwinding between sessions rather than intense gameplay.

It's a fun little game for a cheap price.
I do wish the dev had picked a specific direction for the genre. It falls somewhere between an incremental clicker, and just a progression game.
There's almost no difficulty to speak of, which is fine, depending on the genre.
It was neat upgrading and unlocking things, but I do wish there was 'more' to it.

I've been enjoying this game. I find it a chill game to play. It doesn't need a lot of strategy to win and each race has a different challenge. The dev is active on the forums and updates the game based on player feedback which is great to see. Looking forward to see where the dev takes the gameplay.

Spent a little bit of time on this just to check out if i will like the vibe and feel of the game. For me it hits right. I'll def sit back with this one after work to relax.

This whole cozy genre is starting to take off i feel like. It's probably some steam alg but i am seeing more out there and they are spreading into unexpected genres. A 4x space strategy game with light simple mechanics is feeling cozy for me and yet I still *feel* like i'm playing a grand strat game.

Look i'm a 40-something dude from the US and lemme tell ya kids! When you've played the pew pew pew all your life, you might not think it'll happen, but it will. My buddies and I are complete puddle of gamer mush that's been crushed by adulthood. All you want is a simple moment with a light game like a little port in the storm.

Anyway, Galactic Overthrow is the right game for all i have the energy for with a game.

Cozy games are the yacht rock of gaming.

Lots of new players checked out the game over the Steam Summer Sale (thanks everyone for the support!). This is a quick update to address some of the small bugs found, and some other QoL improvements: - Fixed bug related to clearing building slots on a full board - Fixed visual inconsistency when rapidly pausing and unpausing game on a large board - Added confirmation dialog to Scorched Planet effect - Fixed potential issue with profile clear button not clearing profile data completely

Galactic Overthrow 1.1.4

Hey everyone, Galactic Overthrow 1.1.4 is out now for the Steam Summer Sale. This patch includes a bunch of small fixes from user reports, better save file optimization and corruption prevention, better handling of simulation race conditions and...Pirate SwarmsPirates can now spawn in asteroid fields. The behavior for pirates changes based on the difficulty you select, though in general they behave like hostile planets taking over your friendly planets on a timer and spreading their influence throughout your current galaxy. In Passive Mode, pirates won't spawn at all. You can still enjoy the same more laid-back or casual experience of passive mode without too much of a change. There are some features coming soon that will add some more interaction to Passive Mode, but for now this is unchanged. In Active Mode, pirates will have a chance to spawn in explored asteroid fields, but will only spawn once per field. So once you defeat them in any specific hex they won't respawn there until you've jumped to a new galaxy. In Challenge Mode, pirates will increase in strength more rapidly and their spawn rates, to add more pressure to your military infrastructure. In Extreme Mode, pirates will spawn even more often and can respawn in asteroid fields where they've been previously defeated. This may represent a significant challenge increase in Extreme Mode, especially later in the game. Be sure to let me know how it goes!More coming soon, thanks for playing so far!

New Bug Fixes

Quick patch to address some low-frequency bugs that may affect gameplay. - Fixed: Unstable warhead can cause game board to be unresponsive if utilized in a fully conquered galaxy - Fixed: Choosing a game mode could potentially result in an undefined state, causing the game to run at a difficulty and game speed that's not expected - Fixed: UI issue with windows sometimes not hiding correctly (very rare). Thanks everyone for playing and your bug reports. Hopefully some more news soon on some upcoming changes.
