Vibe Train

Hi all,For the past week, we've been mainly working on crafting and modifications. These are two brand new features for late game. They basically work like this:You collect materials from around the world, through farming and gathering (yes you will be able to gather materials while traveling on the train);You craft items in a workshop;You wait a couple minutes;Crafting is done and you can pick up the products;The products, called modifications, can be equipped on your railcars and will boost certain stats for that car.Here's a rough idea of the UI:Do you think this will be fun? Hi all!It's been over a month since our last dev log. First, a huge thank you to everyone who played the Vibe Train Demo during Steam Train Fest. We received a ton of valuable feedback, and we've already incorporated a lot of it into development.We also hit a milestone we never expected: Vibe Train ranked among the top 10 demos in Steam Train Fest by player count!Now, back to the dev log.The reason we've been quiet over the past month is that we've been busy redesigning several fundamental parts of the game—including car acquisition, progression, station levels, and much more. These systems worked in the demo, but some of them simply wouldn't scale to the amount of content we're planning for the full game.For example, car acquisition. In the demo, almost every advanced car and engine had its own unlock condition. That works when there are around 30 cars. With 100+ cars planned for the full game, though, it quickly becomes unmanageable. So here's a sneak peek at the new progression system we've been cooking: the Tech Tree!Cars and engines are now organized into branches, with tiers ranging from I to V. You'll research your way through each branch, gradually unlocking more advanced cars and engines. We've also rebalanced every car and engine so that each branch has its own identity and a genuine reason to play it.For example, diesel locomotives now have an Overdrive mode, which consumes twice as many ignicores in exchange for a significant boost in power:Steam locomotives and high speed trains also get their own powers too! We heard from you steam locomotive enthusiasts that you wished these giant beasts can remain relevant in late game, so the full game will no longer follow a linear steam → diesel → high-speed progression. Instead, we made each engine archetype equally viable. Every archetype can reach tier V, the highest tier. But they will have their unique strengths and weaknesses, so you may need to choose carefully to find the one that best suits your playstyle...
