Demo update 0.6: a proper ending, a feedback button, a fairer shop
6 days agoDemo update 0.6 The first playtesters were kind enough to write down what they felt. Most of it was right. Here is what changed. New A real ending for the demo. Promotion to the Corner Office now opens a short story: a note taped under a desk, a look at the floors you have not reached yet, and a phone that is ringing for you. A FEEDBACK button on the title screen, the break menu and the end of the demo: the Steam discussions, an email, and one click to copy your game info for bug reports. The studio logo is gone. The game now starts straight on its own opening. Better feel Double or nothing is a moment now. A win counts the take up coin by coin on a rising run of sounds, swells it in gold, sprays office debris off the number and ends with a jackpot. Streaks show themselves earlier. The tiers now start at 8 in a row instead of 10 (8, 20, 40, 80, 160), the desk edges glow from the first tier, and every tier has its headline and its sound. The Supply Closet no longer hides. If you can afford a stamp and have never bought one, the closet opens first on your next visits and tells you what a new stamp does. Balance The Promotion Board prices of the Cubicle Farm and Middle Management are higher, so a floor's board is no longer finished two nights before the floor is. Hiring your team costs more, so the team grows over the whole floor instead of at once. The jump in pay when you reach a new floor is intentional (every floor is a leap), but if it still feels too steep, tell us. About "Double it?" always winning The coin is fair: 50% to double, and the card says so. Only lucky charms (the Lucky Coin policy, the Lucky Coin pin, the Double Eagle) add to it, in plain sight, up to 75%. If you took a charm early it will feel generous. Thank you for stamping with us. Keep the notes coming, and wishlist DUE TONIGHT if you want to see the top of the building.
