What players are saying

I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GAME. - Geared towards Pay2win ( Abusive moderators )
Stay away from it and avoid it like a plague.
Spend your time, money, and efforts on something that is truly worth it.

( Please note, I have been playing CALL OF WAR, since 2016 on and off, on google browser
and only tried it with steam recently )

Reasons:

1st: The system.
The game is designed as a free2play / pay2win Hearts of Iron type real time strategy game, However, according to Bytrolabs Terms of service, you are not allowed to complain about anything to do with Pay2win methods, even though some people throw their wallets at this Undeserving, immoral, cash grab disguised as a game.
Any complaints about Blatant cheating by players throwing all their wallets into the game, receive an instant permanent ban, as was in my case.

After investing Money in the game from my account myself, and spending REAL LIFE MONTHS of my life about a year ago, building up a nation, one player joined in on the game match / instance, and spawned himself a relatively large army within 20 minutes, with which he simply rolled over my nation. His only limit was his bank account, and his account was relatively limitless. Everything i invested in was destroyed in a day. Bytrolabs ENCOURAGES this by design. When i complained and in fact raged about the outright mass spawning and goldmark abuse, my account was permantly deleted.

1 year later, i decided to rejoin again, to play the game, because, the game is Enjoyable, ( to be fair ), however, at the very mention that i am a returning player, and having a previous account, i was issued another permanent ban. EVEN AFTER 1 YEAR and after previous account being 100% terminated. If they dont want players around, they should make it clear. I will definately NOT be returning to this undeserving, arrogant game and definately suggest people to avoid it.

2nd: The community:
The Moderators, Admins, and anyone involved in controlling the community are TOLERANT of bigotry, racism, Sexism, and even Ethnic cyberbullying. They are absolutely tolerant to Bashing muslims, and even made a joke regarding 'Bacon' with regards to muslims. However, will instantly ban you if you say ANYTHING against the their pay2win money system that bytrolabs installed, and, because its a german company, ANY historical mention of the Nazis, or anything to do with germany in ww2 will get you an instant ban. ( atleast from chat )

3rd: The Moderators and High Admins:
If any mention of you having a secondary account, EVEN IF, your previous account was completely deleted and removed from their servers, any notification that you are a returnee to the game, EVEN after a year, will get you another ban. Apparently, they dont want offending players around their game. Which is fair, but is also fair from the community to avoid their game.

4th, They do not allow Refunds.

5th, The game is BY DESIGN, a focus on forcing the player to spend Goldmarks. Money to win.

UPDATE:
After exposing Call of war unfair business practices with regards to their blatant money milking in discussion section of Call of War Discussions, the Call of war Developers Permanently banned me from their steam discussion page.

Avoid this unfortunate scam disguised as a game.

Have never written a steam review before, but in this case, I just have to.

My brother recommended this game to me some time ago. It's a real time game where you build armies, research new technology (mostly just upgrading you units to a bit improved ones), wage wars and make some friends & enemies. In my second game I made some good friends and we played a couple more games, but in my 4th game, I encountered my first gold users.

Game is free to play so it has to get money somewhere else. In this case, good old "buy some gold, win the game". You can buy gold with real money and with gold you can do about anything excluding teleportation of units. You can hurry up or instantly research technology, build units, see other peoples units, you name it. In some cases, people gang up against gold users but even that doesn't help if your opponent is using his daddys credit card. Gold usage is the cancer of this game and a reason why I just had to write this review.

Also, it's forbidden to write about gold usage in this game. Wrote an article about how good this game might be, if there would be payments to get in game and then you coudn't use gold and got a warning:
"Posts which serve to speak ill about the game and deter people from using the premium account (High Command) and/or Gold, are strictly prohibited!
If you continue to violate the terms of service (TOS), you will be removed from the game."

I cannot recommend this game to anyone.

I have been playing this game actively for three months on browser.

Once I played in a 100 player country map. I was the first one who joined so I created a coalition (alliance) and accepted everyone. When it was 25 people size, some guys cried to admins and next day there was an update which limited coalition size just to a few people.

Another time I played a big map I was bullied by a guy who had multiple accounts and used them to trade armies and resources to his main one, he absolutely dominated everyone in less than a week. I went to tell the admins and I was PERMA banned for "telling others how to cheat"
Next day there is update which added a requirement of min. level to join bigger maps.

So thats how I improved the game twice, but im banned from aalll the chats now so IDK.

- This game is terribly pay to win. You can do anything with premium currency.
- Lacks basic features like retreat, all the battles last untill one side dies.
- No radars, so its very hard to detect enemy fleets, as ships have very small visibility. No point of having small fleets as ships with small range can be bombed out when you sleep, as they dont automaticly get close to attack.
- The whole idea of battle is wrong, there is no point of having many small armies as if they get caught by a bigger one, they cant escape alive. With a big army you can just steamroll everyone.
- The maps have terrible misstakes. In *historical* map Memel is in Latvia. In 100 player map, there is a city "Wilno", and a province "Vilnius" (which should be the same thing) like 100 km apart. The borders look like the developers werent even trying.
-- Praising stalin and communism is fine, I reported many articles that were full of communist propaganda, but admins said its completely fine.
--- Just *Mention* Hitler and get PERMA banned. (happened to my friend)
--- This is not even world war two. The game tries to avoid national-socialistic symbols as much as possible. Smaller maps are set in 1932, and in the historical 1939 map, the leader of Germany is called just "reichkanzler"

+ Kinda fun for a few minutes if playing with lot of friends.

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30170585/2313426a1a889f17b8ab26b96429c3b6c026c2ed.jpg We’ve received an unusual transmission on the wire this morning. Reports indicate new heroes are preparing to deploy across the theatres of war - disciplined, determined, and unmistakably bovine. Because when you’re fighting in CoW, sometimes the only logical step is to bring in the cavalry… with hooves. Incoming Orders - Operation Moo-ve & Conquer Field scouts describe a fresh wave of personnel arriving with unmatched morale and an unnerving calm under pressure. Infantry say the newcomers can turn the tide of the war with nothing but a look. Tank crews insist they heard triumphant mooing over the radio net. Naval officers have submitted a formal complaint after some of their destroyers steamed off in a maneuver they described as “herd mentality”. We can’t confirm all the details yet. What we can confirm is that the battlefield has never been more… pasture-ready. Meet The New Heroes The herd is growing, and these names are already appearing in whispers across command chat. General McCowthur - A strategic mind with an iron will and a stare that says: “In war, there is no substitute for hay.”Sergeant Linda - A steady presence, a strict drillmaster, and the newest face of CoW morale.Private Cowroy - The myth, the message, the hoofprint in the mud. If you know, you know. These Heroes are calmly leading from HQ, mootivating your troops. They appear wherever chaos strikes. They are stern, steady and absolutely not impressed by your “just build one more Heavy Tank stack” plan. Final Notes You can claim the new Heroes in the Operations window - today only! Put one on your profile, show the battlefield who’s really in charge, and remember: in Call of War, victory isn’t always about firepower… Sometimes it’s about cowmmand presence. Your CoW Team
