Happy New Year Clicker

I got this game by accepting a Curator Connect offer at Achievements Events group and decided to write this review to help the game release trading cards in future since developer mentioned in an announcement where the game requires a large number of reviews (250-300) to add cards to the game.

New Year Clicker is a simple clicker game in the New Year's theme. Although in this game there is nothing revolutionary, it is able to entertain you for 10-30 minutes. The game requires clicking on the gingerbread man for which you will get gifts that you could spend for buying upgrades and gift boxes (altogether 5 each of them).

Of the features, I would like to note easy achievements, for which you must press all the keys on the keyboard namely every letter and number key and specialty keys as Alt, Shift and Tab (and combinations with them). The images of these achievements are also perfect for creating a profile design during the winter holidays.

Of the minuses, it should be noted the game has extremely slow scrolling of the menu, as well as the inability to save the progress of the game upon exiting the game.


Я получил эту игру, приняв одно из предложений Curator Connect в группе Achievements Events group и решил написать рецензию в надежде увидеть в будущем коллекционные карточки для этой игры, разработчик которой сообщил о необходимости довольно большого количества рецензий для выпуска коллекционных карточек.

New Year Clicker представляет собой довольно простой кликер в новогодней тематике. Хоть в этой игре и нет ничего революционного, но она способна занять на 10-30 минут. Игра предполагает нажатие мышкой на пряничного человечка, за что вы будете получать монеты (подарки), которые можно потратить на покупку улучшений и подарков (каждых по 5 штук).

Из особенностей хотелось бы отметить простые достижения, для получения которых необходимо нажать все клавиши на клавиатуре, включая клавиши с буквами цифрами и специальные (Alt, Shift, Esc), включая комбинации с ними. Изображения этих достижений отлично подойдут для оформления профиля в период зимних праздников.

Из минусов следует отметить крайне медленную прокрутку меню, а также невозможность сохранения прогресса игры после выхода из игры.

Simple clicker that misses most of the important boxes

This is like Cookie Clicker: it's even got the cookie to click on.

It's a simple clicker: clicking the cookie gains cash to be used to buy upgrades (gifts, i.e. workers of sort) to idle for more cash. You also need to buy more maximum cash.

As the single positive, I believe that clicker games are good for nothing else but achievements. And this one indeed does have achievements. That's where the positives pretty much end.

The rest of it

First, achievements in this game have been done wrong, in my opinion. You gain them by pressing most buttons on your keyboard. None of them are associated with gameplay itself.

Second, if you wanted to just idle it for high scores, you really can't. There is no saving. It always starts at the beginning when you restart the game.

At least the user interface is okay'ish, though the upgrade window could do with a kill cross (instead it's closed by clicking the upgrade button again).

You can also mute the generic jiggle bells song and use the Unity launcher to run it windowed or fullscreen.

Disappointing

I played it for about 10 minutes before realizing how the achievements are gained (obviously I could have read the guide first to find this out). This one's for you only if you want some super-easy achievements with Christmas'y icons but there's nothing to brag about here.

With saving and gameplay-related achievements I think this might have been an alright game. As it is, I cannot recommend it.

Easy achievements, press all the buttons to get all the achievements. However, the main clicker game doesn't even save progress when you close the game, which fails the basic clicker game standard (if there ever were clicker game standards).
