This is gonna be long so please stay with me.
Do I recommend this game? Yes, with appropriate expectations. This is a gacha game and a time waster.
## Sexual Content
I expect most people are gonna start here so I'll get this out of the way. What is the sexual content? Lewd jpgs. That's it. This isn't a dating sim or an Illusion game. You're getting jpgs out of this. That's the end of this section. I'm not joking.
## Graphics
Honestly, the graphics aren't that bad. People do things as they should and I don't really see anyone bending in weird ways aside from the jpgs. As someone who has done some of these poses, they make it seem effortless whereas it really shouldn't. Others are kinda... ridiculous.
The only complaint I have is that some units don't face the unit they're attacking which is a little odd.
## Gameplay
Oh boy, here we go. So you're some dude called the Commander. You command these units known as Blackguards. Blackguards are divided into certain criteria such as Fighter, Guardian, Mage, Ranged, Support, etc. You assemble up to 4 of these units, as well as yourself, to go out and fight things. There are effectively two types of gameplay:
Labyrinth/Crusade: You'll command the Commander alone. Labyrinth is actually unique in that it plays like a Roguelike. You'll level up and, upon doing so, will have a choice between 3 randomly generated augments to clear the labyrinth. This sounds much more deeper than it is because it's a mindless mode. Pick magic-focused upgrades and just afk at the spawn until things die.
Crusade is a little different in that there's no upgrades or level ups but you take control of the Commander alone with two skills: Auto attack and a circular AoE. The objectives always seem to be the same: Clear all enemies. It's mindless
Everything else: You spawn on the map with your 5 units and let the AIs duke it out. In normal battles, you'll fight groups of enemies until you clear enough to spawn the boss of the area. The boss is always 5 AI controlled Blackguards. In the Tower mode, it's... 5 AI controlled Blackguards.
## Progression
This is the first "Gacha" style game I've played for more than 20 minutes so forgive my ignorance. This game does a good job at making early progression feel very fast paced but slow down towards the end. I'll try to explain as best I can.
Your Commander requires no upgrades as his current level is equivalent to the level of your highest Blackguard. Your Blackguard requires Exp to level upgrade. Once she reaches the level before the 25th level, they'll require a Promotion. Promotions require Exp and Magic Spars (MS, henceforth). How do you get MS? From idling on an hourly basis and from the Tower mode.
I'm at Lvl 174 and I currently get 40 per hour. To upgrade my Blackguard to 175, I'll need 491. That's a little over 12 hours to upgrade 25% of my team to 175. As for exp, well, those drop from monsters you kill. Except it has a daily limit. At my level, I get 308k per day. To promote my 174 to 175, that requires 108k Exp. To upgrade my 172 to 173, it takes 12k. You can see how this quickly ramps up.
So, let's get into this some more. You gain Blackguards from summoning then. Their ranks range from SS -> S -> A, and nothing below A matters because you recycle B grades into other resources. You can summon them using a finite, rare resource like scrolls or using Diamonds. 1 Scroll/110 Diamonds -> 1 summon, or 10 Scrolls/1000 Diamonds -> 10 summons. You get a guaranteed S/SS card every certain amount of summons which are clearly shown. You can also favorite certain Blackguards up to S rank to prioritize their summoning.
Once you summon, you can further Awaken them by combining duplicate cards. Awakening increases base stats, quite dramatically, and maximum level. Higher ranks seem to require more resources to awaken them.
To put this into context, I've been playing Black Desert for 5 years now and I find this game to be more of a grind than that game. While BDO's progression is also RNG based, I can simply buy my Pen gear. I can't buy an awakened SS Blackguard. I have to grind Labyrinth daily, Guild logins daily, and simply wait for me to have enough shards to summon a base level Usilotte so I can upgrade my SS rank.
## Pay To Win
I... don't really think this game has P2W. There are only 2 items I'd say give you an edge: The Monthly and LIfetime passes. The Monthly pass is $5 and the lifetime is $25. They give you a variety of benefits that give you a noticeable edge over not having them.
The reason I don't call this P2W is because this is basically a singleplayer game. In the longrun you'll eventually get your team at max awakening and just quit. Curb your senses and just play the game like a marathon instead of a sprint. You gain nothing from playing this fulltime instead of leaving it idling in the background. This game calls itself an IDLE RPG for a reason.
Don't fall victim, just be patient.
## The Jank
Ok so this game has some jank. This is a native Chinese game and the translation really shows. The text in this game as basically run through Google Translate and that's obvious. As someone who's had to support multilingual products, a native speaker isn't the easiest thing to come by. So while it's a problem in understanding sometimes, I find it hilarious and cute.
This game also has some weird jank with units. For instance, when you initiate a boss fight, all enemies are removed from the map and all allies are revived with full HP/Shield, they also rapidly regenerate rage to use their ultimates. However... sometimes units just go afk. And by "sometimes" I mean I only see this problem with Vina - a Melee unit with rather unique abilities to displace/stuns multiple units. Sometimes she just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stops caring and idles in a single spot across the map. This is actually useful in that your team will never wipe but if you initiate a boss fight, sometimes she won't even show up.
The currency is known as Lura and it seems to be relatively rare. For example, to enhance gear, you require Lura and Alchemy Dust. To upgrade a Purple/Epic grade weapon from +0 to +1 requires 25 Alchemy Dust and 1094 Lura. To upgrade it from +0 to +20 (the max), it requires 3920 Dust and 42k Lura. As of writing, I have 75k Lura and 93k Dust. The Lura cost is a gargantuan bottleneck in this process. Lura is far more scarce than any other resource that relies on a combination of the two. Wtf? You can't even sell junk equipment for this. In fact, I've only seen 1 item that CAN be sold.
## Overall
It's cute, the jpgs are cute, it doesn't require a lot of brainpower. The translation is laughably terrible but I find it charming. Be patient, don't blow your money, enjoy the experience. It's cute and I think it's ok.
