God of Gym
by Team KARPETTI
Media
God of Gym casts you as an underdog bodybuilder racing to gain strength and experience before facing increasingly powerful opponents. The core loop involves training to boost your stats and purchasing upgrades like power-ups and recovery items, with time pressure driving your progression toward eventual showdowns. It's designed for players who enjoy gym-themed idle mechanics and competitive progression systems, though execution issues have frustrated some players.
About this game
You are a skinny guy who's obsessed with being super strong. Your opponents are professionals who don't wait long. Your task is to gain experience as quickly as possible to meet your opponents face to face. Will you be able to get to Olympus? Depends on you.

Day 1 - 1/4/2020

Well I was looking up some simulator games and saw this, for the price I was willing to give it a shot. But oh man, while it has some nice art, some okay mechanic ideas with the power-up and recovery soda.
The time limit "really" seems like a bad, not to mention in the way idea. The home segments having a time limit makes no sense at all when it's merely better suited to have it for the actual competitions. I wish more keys allowed you to spam them instead of just the left click, for example, the space bar.
I like how you can visually see the character becoming more fit over time, and however since this game doesn't allow you to work out more than what's needed, you can't feel like a "god of the gym." Overall I would say this game has potential if the developer keeps adding more content to the game and changes some of the mechanics, but right now, I can't recommend the game.

Day 2 - 1/9/2020

Well, I saw the game got updated, so I gave it another go. It seems they added great spacebar support, and easy mode to remove the time limit that I thought was unnecessary for people who didn't like the time limit. That was a great update, and the devs are doing a good job addressing complaints from players.
If I were to list what I think could be improved is:
- Ability to re-challenge old rivals
- Ability to over-train for next challenges
- Ability to have stats tracked (Strength/Speed/Fame)
- Add Speed for competitions like sprinting, swimming, and bicycle
- Add Fame as a stat that makes it, so you have more total fans the more you compete
- Having a certain amount of fans should "unlock" special competitions you can attend that have multiple parts to them.
