SysAdmin Odyssey puts you in the chair of a system administrator handling daily office tasks and problems. The sandbox approach lets you tackle various IT scenarios, though the early access version currently offers limited content and repetitive work beyond the first hour. It appeals to IT professionals or enthusiasts curious about the field, but expect a stripped-down experience waiting for promised features.

Don't get fooled by the cool concept, this game is completely hollow right now. The devs claim they want "player feedback" during Early Access, but honestly, what is there to give feedback on? The game is literally empty. There are no corporate quests, no real scenarios, and absolutely nothing to do after the first hour. It feels less like a passion project and more like a rushed attempt to make a quick buck off a neat idea.

To make things worse, the logic is totally broken if you have even basic IT knowledge. I literally had to troubleshoot a PC that clearly showed an active internet connection, yet the game stubbornly insisted there was a "network configuration error." It makes absolutely no sense, it’s poorly coded, and it clearly wasn't tested before release.

Even at €7.75, this is pure robbery. Save your cash, there are far better tech and management sims out there that actually respect your time.

Pros

  • The core concept has potential (if it was an actual game).

Cons

  • Completely empty, no content or quests.
  • Total lack of logic (PCs with active internet having "network errors").
  • Feels like a quick cash grab instead of a proper Early Access.
  • Broken mechanics that just lead to frustration.

A promising game that unfortunately delivers barely any content beyond an hour of semi-repetitive gameplay.

Lots of features are teased, but either not implemented, or don't provide any challenging functionality.
Example: Networking seems impressive, but there's no reason to explore any of it. The cables are already completely set up with the most expensive equipment from the start + the number of workspaces never expands.

If this game has been in development for 5 years already as the dev claims, buying it now and expecting more content for it to be enjoyable is a gamble.
Honestly, I feel bad for not recommending this game, seeing the potential. But this should've stayed a demo for at least another 2 BIG updates.

I love this game can wait until the other content is added. This is exactly what I went to college for! Best Game ever! Only thing missing is programming and repairing broken components. Like the game ServiceIT You Can Do It! This game runs smoothly and as far as detail the dev is amazing! Only thing I don't like is when you fix or build a system it automictically has an OS already installed on the system. I would to have the option to go through the steps of installing an OS and fixing a corrupt installation. I would also like to see more tools you can use, especially screwing inn components. That would add more depth and more educational value.

I'm super hyped for what's to come! If the Dev want's to reach out to me on any recommendations I'll be happy to assist! But here's one simple one. separating the cables from the pile of cables, as typically most IT men/women stay very organized with tools and cabling. I would also add a data center level, repair shop level, and possibly like a factory or warehouse that uses robotics or whatever.

The only reason the game feels dry is because the lack of content. But I highly recommend NOT RUSHING, Don't feel entitled to rush through building the game. TAKE YOUR TIME AND BUILD THE GAME RIGHT. Anyways good luck and thank you building the game of my dreams!
