very simple, short game. Not bad for the price. the only problem is the sounds of the grilling makes me hungry edit: the new free mode is addicting and you can turn off the chewing sound 10/10 game of the year another edit: i expected this game to be released and abandoned but the devs are going crazy with updates. good on them

About This Game
Simple and easy game! Just chill out and simulate eating yakiniku!
What players are saying
A simple little cooking minigame that's as hard as you want to make it. The game can scale from being a relaxing experience you can zone out to to an extreme, fast-paced eating contest featuring achievements and competitive leaderboards. (yes, I kid you not, leaderboards in a game about grilling meat) Skilled players will find a great deal of reward in figuring out the optimal strategy for eating as much as possible without burning the meat. 8/10 - I'm hungry now.
A literal all-you-can-eat experience where you'll stay hungry no matter how much you cook
Yakiniku Simulation… My first impression of the game was skeptical at best. I mean, come on – a Yakiniku Simulator? Why? Seriously, why? Imagine being so hungry, but instead of spending whatever measly amount of money you have left for food, you opt to get this game. I mean, who does that – this guy, haha. The game's core is pretty simple; you cook meat, that's it. But, hidden beneath the pretense of simplicity lies extraordinary attention to detail that has made me fall in love with the game. For example, Yakiniku Simulation provides a selection of premium cuts to satisfy your need for meats. Aside from the varied selection of cuts, it also lets you have total control of the grill heat level. That means, if you ever feel like the beef is cooking too long, crank the heat up, and you're good to go. However, each meat has differing cooking times, so you'd have to keep a close eye on every slice you put on the grill. One more thing, if you're aiming for a perfect score, you need to ensure each side of the meat is fully cooked – again, fantastic attention to detail; mad props to the dev team. The game features a plethora amount of modes to play around with, ranging from the casual to the most competitive. Yes, you heard it right. This seemingly simple game has a leaderboard that keeps track of who's the best yakiniku expert out there – impressive! But there's a minor issue with said leaderboard; there were times when the game stuck on a loading animation during my playthrough. And the only to fix this is to reset the game, which will cost you your progress. Other than that, everything else ran just fine. Out of all the available modes to play, my all-time favorite is the free mode cause I like to enjoy my time cooking them meats while contemplating why I spent my money for a digital experience when I could go for the real one. Lastly, Yakiniku Simulation has a spot-on sound design; when you put a slice on the grill, you can hear the sizzling sound right away, and there's this cute blowing-up when the piece is overcooked. However, there is one other thing you need to consider before buying this game. Yakiniku Simulation has this thing called autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR); in a nutshell, it's a pleasant sensation you get when you hear a particular sound. In this case, it's the grilling and chewing sound – yeap, chewing sound, which you can switch off if you find it disturbing. Honestly, if it's for a quick game, I don't really mind leaving it on, but I'd definitely turn it off during free mode. Imagine listening to someone else's chewing sound for hours; that's a hard pass for me. All in all, If you're looking for a dirt cheap yakiniku experience, then you're in the right place. Give this a shot! And don't forget to eat the greens to balance all the meat you're planning on grilling. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2854728483
Follow our curator page: IndieGems if you like and want to see more reviews like this one.
