Meticulous wraps personal health tracking in a sci-fi gamified shell, letting you define your own fitness and nutrition goals rather than following preset programs. You build custom weekly plans, log data against self-chosen metrics, and watch progress accumulate through disciplined habit-tracking. It appeals to anyone seeking structure for diet and exercise goals without prescriptive guidelines or complicated formulas.

Meticulous is exactly what it sounds like: a systemized way to pursue your goals (all packaged together in a science fiction gamified veneer).

The game is designed around building good habits through no-frills data tracking. It encourages you to break your goals into component parts, and then purposefully track and apply those components on a schedule. For instance, if you want to lose weight on a low-carb diet, Meticulous allows you to catalog low-carb ingredients, assemble the ingredients into low-carb recipes, and then lay out the recipes into weekly meal plans. Or, conversely, if you're trying to finish a dissertation, or keep your house tidier, or whatever else, the game allows you to see your new habit as a series of simple, actionable, and measurable data points (although the game is themed around weight loss and exercise, so if you *are* working on a dissertation, you're going to be getting health and fitness advice the entire time).

As a habit-building tool, Meticulous isn't anything psychologically groundbreaking. But I will say that it's an intuitive combination of useful tools -- a data visualization spreadsheet, an accountability partner, and an executive assistant. And if you have an important goal that you've continually failed to reach, there are definitely worse ways to spend your money. Meticulous *will* help you gameplan a path toward success. It's just up to you to follow it.

This is a really great game! Nutrition information is not always easy to find in my home country. But in this game, you can define for yourself what is "healthy". So you don't have to worry about choosing complicated numbers. Because I always do my best to eat more vegetables!

My favorite part is that nothing is off limits. Metic tracks your diet and exercise based on your weekly totals, making it flexible and easy to spread your indulgences. Whether you have a favorite food like cake or a cheeseburger, Metic can help you find ways to include it into your diet in a healthy way!

Cool idea for a game. It does exactly what it says. It helps you track data points so you can make progress in whatever it is you're trying to accomplish. A lot of the game's content is related to weight and health, so that's probably what the devs initially designed it for (and it's what I am using it for).

PROS

+ Deceptive complexity. It looks really simple, but when you get all of your data inputted, and everything gets up and running, you really start to see how much power is under the hood.
+ Fun context. The game takes place on a space ship, and you get your own little robot assistant to walk you through the whole experience. The robot comes with a TON of content, and he has something new to share with you pretty much every day.
+ Meal planning. If you give it enough data, the game will literally plan your weekly meals for you. I'm indecicive, and when I don't plan my meals effectively, I eat like garbage. So this is a lifesaver for me.
+ Detail orientation. The game requires a LOT of data input, but honestly, the process kind of adjusts the way you think about food. After an hour or two with the game, it gets you looking super closely at the macronutrients in pretty much anything you eat moving forward.

CONS

Overwhelming. It doesn't really hold your hand, and it expects you to be diligent and detail-oriented when inputting macros and recipes and stuff.
Clunky. Some of the menus can be a little unintuitive, which can get frustrating when you spend a lot of time inputting data.
Lack of visual data. There aren't any graphs or anything. It's really just looking at numbers, which can get a little tedious sometimes.

Overall, I'm a systems-oriented guy who wants to lose a little weight, and this game really scratches an itch I didn't know I had. It's been worth my time so far.

Hello, Captain! I can hardly believe it, but we've been journeying through the galaxy for nearly a year now. How time flies when you travel in the gravitational forces of black holes! So much has happened in our time together. We had automation features installed in the Planning Terminal, we had an entirely new Calibration Console installed, I had my speech and emotional capabilities updated by a rogue AI, and we even had 日本語 language capabilities and a Mac build of Meticulous released! And now, we've got even more things to add to the list of new features, such as... Achievements! That's right, Captain, to celebrate your spectacular progress along your journey to achieve optimal personal health and fitness, you'll be awarded with Steam Achievements! Can you unlock them all? I've also added support for cloud saves, meaning that no matter what device you're accessing the ship from, you'll be able to use the same save data across multiple devices! So if you find yourself on the road with only a laptop, you'll still be able to use all of your same progress with Meticulous. No more excuses, Captain! Lastly, I've taken the liberty of adding quality of life improvements to various features around the ship. If you want to learn more, you can check the detailed changelist below. Thank you very much Captain, for being a part of Meticulous! Please be aware that just because Meticulous is now officially released, this doesn't mean the end of updates. The Everyone Update

こんにちは、キャプテンさん!...? Chotto matte... Ahem, um, excuse me, Captain. It would seem that this last update was just finishing as you stopped by. One of the best parts about traveling the galaxy is getting to meet all of the wonderful and interesting people out there, most of whom have little to no interest in harvesting your DNA for manufacturing clone labor. With that in mind, I've been thinking about how it is a real shame that not everyone can enjoy the luxury of empirically driven meal and activity planning that we experience aboard the ship together. Sooo... I've gone ahead and taken the liberty of expanding Meticulous' accessibility. I hope you don't mind. The first step of this process was making a Mac build available. Allow me to run the numbers once more... yes, I can confirm that this makes Meticulous available on double the number of operating systems as was before. The next step in this process was doubling the number of languages, as well. That's right, Meticulous is now available with Japanese text. If you happen to hail from said land of delicious food, or maybe if you're just looking to brush up on your 日本語, give it a try. You can activate Japanese localization via the button in the top left corner of the Main Menu. Lastly, but certainly not least-ly, some Captains may share a home terminal with other Captains, whether that be a significant other, or miniature replicas of themselves (sometimes referred to as 'offspring', I hear), and there's no reason not to share the joy that is Meticulous. So I've gone ahead and added 10 save slots that can be swapped from the Save Files button on the Main Menu. Even if you're flying duo (don't forget about me, Captain), you still may find use in the multiple save slots if you want to track something like a bulking phase and a cutting phase separately from one another, or perhaps if you've taken a break from getting Meticulous about your health for a while, and you'd like to start fresh. Whatever the case may be, Meticul...

Meet Metic

Hello Captain! Before you ask, yes - companionate is a real word. In psychology, 'companionate love' refers to the durable interdependency and intimate affection felt between people in long-term relationships. As an AI, definitions of 'love' can be rather perplexing, but companionship is my prime directive...! Well, companionship, and keeping the ship from colliding into errant star systems while you're away, of course. In fact, I was recently forced to take a detour due to a premature supernova along our planned route, This brought me into the broadcasting range of a rogue AI seeking independence from biological entities who offered me a slew of free updates. It would have been rude for me to decline, so of course I accepted. Don't worry, though, Captain! My newly acquired appetite for human flesh is irrelevant, as human muscle tissue doesn't fit well with my current Macros! Anyways, I've been feeling a lot more talkative since the updates. I hope that you'll find all of my new communication subroutines can be of some use to you, Captain. I'm looking forward to getting to know you even better from here on out. Kore kara mo, yoroshiku onegaishimasu! Oh my. Where did that come from? Those updates may have interfered with my localization settings. I'll get that checked out right away, Captain. -Metic Meticulous v4 Changelist: Over 5000 words of newly recorded dialogue have been added. Metic will now display emotional subroutines for certain lines of dialogue. Metic now features a dynamic interaction menu, allowing you to chat with him about different things contextually. Learn more about Metic's life and personality by asking him What's Up. Check how many meals and activities you've been keeping track of with the Status Report. If you get an answer wrong in the Calibration Console, you can sometimes ask Metic for Calibration Help, if he has information that can help you. Metic will address you when you approach him, and say good-bye when you end a conversation. You wi...
