The Last Hike

The Last Hike is a 2D survival adventure where you play as a knight fighting ancient evil. However, multiple players report significant technical issues including system crashes on launch, unclear mechanics with no tutorial, and difficulty balancing that makes progression frustrating rather than challenging. This appears to be a fundamentally broken release that needs substantial fixes before it's playable.
About this game
The Last Hike - is an excellent 2D adventure game, with elements of survival, in which you need to resist the ancient evil, playing as a knight named Richard.
What players are saying
Warning: Potentially Malicious Software!
The game causes an immediate Blue Screen of Death (BSOD, "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION" to be exact) when launching. There is no reason any RPG Maker asset flip should be trying to interact with your system kernel in such a way. The Russian developers behind this asset flip may be doing more than just directly trying to scam gamers.
The Last Hike appears to be a typical, lazy Russian RPG Maker asset flip (RPG Maker being the construction kit designed for children to use to stamp out Final Fantasy JRPG pixelcrap ripoffs in the space of a couple of hours). But instead, it causes a BSOD due to some highly unwelcome attempts to access parts of the OS it definitely should not be.
Now, I have a lot of experience with RPG Maker asset flips, having warned gamers af over four hundred of them (there's a reason that RPG Maker is generally despised by gamers, this pollution is not harmless). But never, in all of those cases has the RPG Maker asset flip done something so shady and likely malicious. What are the Russians behind Conglomerate 5 trying to achieve with this?
It's worth noting Conglomerate 5 are close business partners with scammers like Atomic Fabrik, who have already been banned from Steam, and they also use the same Russian fake review farm to generate fake reviews as part of their ongoing scams. I seriously cannot urge gamers hard enough to avoid this asset flip.
Warning: Review Manipulation!
This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad, or in this case malicious product.
So, should you buy this highly suspicious BSOD generator/RPG Maker asset flip? No.
Profile Features Limited!
Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
