Needs overall work with translations to make it more accessible to English players (I have very little idea what's going on most of the time, but trial and error has taught me how most things work).

However, I do have a good time playing this... so yeah, I'd recommend it.

TWhen I first loaded up "Demon Command Token" I thought it was one of those nasty Chinese browser scams, you know, barely a game, a thin veneer plastered over a nasty cash shop. I was almost pleasantly surprised to see this isn't any kind of scam at all, it's a genuinely made game. Just a really bad one. The laughably bad Chinese -> English translation doesn't help matters, either.

So while this isn't a browser scam, it's indistinguishable from a browser game, with mostly static, barely animated sprites that look almost certainly like Chinese stock game art assets. And what do you do with these sprites? Well, the game is basically (while it doesn't look like it) a really lame monster collecting Pokemon ripoff... if Pokemon was a crappy browser game. Tap on your screen to take your little monsters through various incredibly lame JRPG style "numbers" battles to upgrade them and collect more monsters... you get the idea.

Not a bad concept for a game, but it's just remarkable how terribly bad the quality of the implementation is... this truly is junk. Junk with a price tag on it.

From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.I'm not sure if this is an asset flip, but it's one of those cases where the assets just look much better than the rest of the quality of the game... a glaring inconsistency. There's no evidence, but as always, the biggest problem with asset flips besides the plagiarism is the deplorably low quality of the other aspects of the game, and even if the game assets are genuinely created for the game, the quality of the rest of the game is indistinguishable from that of asset flips.

For gameplay purposes, because the user interface for this game is mostly just 2D static text/images... it might as well be a web page. It's functionally no different from a browser game. And we all know, Steam isn't here to compete with Chrome and Firefox. If the game can be done in a web browser, it's just not rich or compelling enough to appeal to serious gamers on PC.

There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.

While you can set the display resolution, there's no other meaningful interface tweaks at all, so there's no way to improve the lacklustre visuals.

The controls can't be customised because the game doesn't really have any interface beyond menus and simple UI controls no different from dialog boxes in Windows Explorer. If you think about it, this barely counts as an "interactive" game. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play fully immersive games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here.

The game features no proper level design or game/story flow/plot, as they opted to try to use samey repetitive procgen algorithms as a substitute for adding such content to the game, to avoid doing the important job of level/map design. As a result, the game doesn't actually have any content worth mentioning, just endless, boring, repetitive, soulless algorithmically generated sameyness. Developers must learn that procedural generation is not an acceptable substitute for content.

Those technical issues put this game beneath what is expected from a contemporary, professionally developed PC game.

Demon Command Token didn't capture much interest from the people who own a copy. The achievement data makes this clear: the easiest achievement, "秃头强化", dsadas, was only unlocked by 30 percent of players. Even the simplest milestone went unreached by the vast majority of owners. Hardly a ringing endorsement.

One of the driving elements of this shovelware game is "achievement spam", that is to say the game features a ridiculously large number of trivial/automatically granted achievements, 100 of them, in fact. It's a damning indictment for this shovelware that people only bought it for easy achievements, and not because it has any serious merit as a real game.

Let's talk about price and the value this represents for us gamers. Should you buy this game? Is it among the best the Steam catalogue has to offer?

Demon Command Token is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it.

The quality problems and defects with this game makes the asking price totally unrealistic.

Profile Features Limited!
Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
