Wild Growth pairs real-time healing mechanics with Norse-themed squad management, asking you to position fighters and mages to survive campaign battles. The core loop involves upgrading your party through a skill tree between runs, though players report the progression feels misaligned—resource gains often drop after advancing, and upgrade costs outpace meaningful power gains. Best suited for those who enjoy the tactical challenge of healing-focused gameplay despite some balancing frustrations.

The game is very polished. However there are two main issues.

Took me about half the game to realize that I could never make crazy builds. Like all fire mages, or a full stack of warriors. The game bills itself as a Formation management game. But even with a skill tree everything is linear and the only choice you can make is to put your wizard in front of, or behind your fighters. (you guess which is better)

Also its grindy for no real gain. It doesnt feel like im progressing.

The art and the play are great, but for some reason no one told them it wasnt fun in its current balance.

I wish I could leave a positive review, but this game needs some attention from the devs.

Pros

- Visually appealing
- Music is great
- Gameplay is unique for this type of game

Cons

- Resource gathering MUCH too slow
- Upgrades MUCH too expensive for mostly weak improvements
- Progression feels backwards much of the time, finishing a campaign level is followed by gathering FEWER resources due to resource progression staying stagnant while enemy progression is more linear / difficult

I hope the devs take a few more passes on this one, it has a lot of potential but for now it's getting put back on the shelf.

I'll be real. The gameplay in the levels is actually kinda fun. The often-frenetic healing and eventually large party size really sells the raid-style healer feel. Also, the art is really compelling. Sometimes simplistic but always thematically unified and well done.

But holy Eir the skill tree feels so poorly planned. The upgrades are so expensive, to the point where you have to grind the same level with the same build over and over and over again just to try and get enough for the next upgrade. The eventual reliance on skulls, the objectively worse currency to grind, means you WILL be slamming your nuts in the car door for a few hours before you can spice up your gameplay.
I think the gameplay loop is just... not fun enough to justify playing it for the reasons I DO like it. It almost feels like a way to artificially inflate the gametime as opposed to truly fleshing out the game.

HOWEVER. although I'm gonna give it a thumbs down, I do think if you don't mind a genuinely mindless slog... this game actually has a lot going for it. potentially. idk. try at your own risk, it's only a few bucks and it's a small creator.

Patch 1.1.11

Heya healers! Hope you are all doing alright! This patch addresses the following: - Fixed a tab-navigation bug (pressing Q or LB clashed with Cancel and overrode the behaviour in a non desireable way) - Bosses in Prestiges do less damage. Should be less of a difficulty spike now. - Some upgrades in Prestige mode have been rebalanced. - You now start with 25 Ancestral Points in Prestiges. Refund All to get the full amount. Crashes Some players report crashes. I have received logs and savefiles to test with, but havn't yet been able to reproduce the issue or confirm its fix. For this build I have added additional safeguards in some places of the code where I, from the error messages, can guess that the error arises. I have also done a minor upgrade of the engine (Godot) just in case it's something lower level. Let us know what you think, thanks! /Hannes & Alfred

Small saturday morning patch:Improved spell queueing. Can now queue spells that are on cooldown and such. Shows errors if the spell wasn't castable when the queued cast actually triggers. Always have Focus Target and Cancel Heal in Prestige mode. No need to unlock anymore. Fixed Cancel Heal binding and updated tooltip. Now on (Q)/(RT)/(R1) Ordered numbered spells in number order in Prestige. Doh XD Thanks for the feedback that led to these! /Hannes
