This game very much holds up to the hype of the series. The anomalies are better than ever in my opinion, with more unique anomalies, and more "task" needed to solve certain ones. The normal mode is not overly specified and hard to find, which means newcomers to the franchise will enjoy the game. Funny anomalies, jump scares, and things that move before your eyes, this game has it all!

I've never played a game in this franchise but I have seen them on youtube. I didn’t expect to vibe this hard with a game that’s basically... stare at rooms and notice weird stuff. But, for me, observation duty 8 hits that strange sweet spot where you’re tense the whole time… yet somehow completely relaxed. It’s like doing a puzzle while your brain is convinced a ghost might jumpscare you at any moment.

The loop is simple, but it works. You flip through cameras, keep mental notes, and wait for something to feel off.

That tiny jolt of, “hold up, that wasn’t there before” is way more fun than it has any right to be.

What surprised me most is how zen the whole thing feels once you settle in. There’s this quiet rhythm to scanning each room, almost meditative, even though you know an anomaly could pop up and ruin your whole shift. It’s tense, but not stressful, more like a cozy paranoia.

Just be prepared to lose track of time while you convince yourself that chair definitely wasn’t facing that direction five minutes ago.

Highly recommended if you want something chill, weird, and surprisingly satisfying.
