Desktank places a customizable aquarium on your desktop where fish swim and grow passively while you work. The game offers a relaxing, low-engagement experience with minimal interaction required, though players note the free version aggressively encourages upgrading to the full tank after reaching certain milestones. Best suited for those seeking ambient, stress-free background entertainment rather than active gameplay.

Updating my review for the third time after the dev decided to bait and switch their community. Now there's plans to make the game free, after taking money from early supporters. And what do they get as a reward for spending real money? Instant unlock of the max fish capacity, something you get if you played the game for more then 30 minutes.

Sure, the developer here listens when things could be changed, and they get brownie points for that, but they lost it all for this. Taking people's money then switching it up on them is disgusting.

pretty cute, but i wish there was an option to only have it be on the desktop and not always be on top, as i think the idea of the fish being only on the desktop would be really cute, and not always on the screen

Kept pushing for you to buy the full tank version constantly after getting 25 fishes, otherwise decent desktop tank.

Hey everyone! I was originally planning to release a bigger content update, but I decided to prioritize this one due to some important issues affecting players — like not being able to switch monitors or the HUD disappearing. The next update is still on track and will include more new features, with the goal of reaching 100 fish species! What’s new in this update: 🖥️ Vertical monitor support added↔️ You can now manually reposition the window to switch between monitors🐠 3 new fish species added — we’re now at 90 total (target: 100 in the next update)🎣 New option in settings to disable the fishing hook mechanic🛠️ Fixed issue where the HUD would disappear for some users🧼 Fixed all known bugsThanks as always for the support, more exciting features and fish are on the way!If you’re enjoying Desktank, consider leaving a review — it helps me a ton!

Desktank is Going Free-to-Play 🐟 + Free DLC for Early Supporters

Hey everyone,I have a big update to share: Desktank is going free-to-play! Soon, anyone will be able to download the game and enjoy a relaxing fish tank experience right on their desktop — with up to 25 fish capacity in the free version. But for those of you who already bought the game: 👉 You’ll get the upcoming DLC for free, which unlocks the full 100 fish capacity. It’s a small way to say thank you for supporting the game early on.Desktank means a lot to me — it’s a game I made for myself, something cozy I wanted to see exist. And now I want to share it with as many people as possible. I believe in this project, and I’m committed to growing it long-term with more features, fish, and fun surprises down the line. Thanks for being here and for helping Desktank become what it is today. 💙

Update v0.7.7 - Study / Work Mode added + More

This new update brings both relaxing features and new challenges to your desktop aquarium:Study/Work Mode: A peaceful mode where your fish don't need feeding or cleaning. Perfect for when you're busy or just want a stress-free background.Fish Hook Mechanic: A new threat to your aquarium. If you're not quick to react, the hook will steal one of your fish. 6 New Fish Types: Expand your collection with six new species.New Color Preset: Add a splash of color to every fish with a vibrant new palette.Leveling System Rebalanced: Leveling up is now slower, offering a more satisfying progression curve.Feeding Adjustments: Fish take longer to become dark when unfed, so you don't have to feed them as often.Bug Fixes: All known bugs have been fixed to improve performance and stability.I plan to keep expanding Desktank with tons of new features while preserving and improving the relaxing experience it already offers. I'm working on adding more idle mechanics to make it feel more like a full game, but I also want to keep modes where it can simply be a peaceful companion without any pressure. Customization is a big focus going forward—I'm aiming to give players more ways to personalize their fish and their desktop. In the next couple of updates, I’m planning to add fish storage, a store for unlockable visual upgrades, and of course, more fish species with every update. I'm also always open to suggestions, so feel free to share your ideas! Thanks for playing and stay tuned for more updates soon.
