2nd Anniversary Update

The Alien Paradise release’s second anniversary is coming, and the developer (me) was lucky enough to finish the quality of life updates on time to coincide with the date. The updates include: Latency SystemNow, the input delay compensation is slip between audio and video, making the audiovisual adjustments more accurate and simpler to configure. The latency assistant was also updated. Gamepad OptionsWith the addition of support to DualSense controllers, compatible gamepads will emit light patterns related to the level being played and rumble in sync with the game. The light patterns can be changed in the settings screen, as well the rumble can be turned on or off. The patterns introduction at the start of the levels displays the corresponding icons to the controller being used, being able to override the iconography also in the settings menu.Random Mode: Sequence LevelsLast year, random mode was included to the Quickplay menu, where animations could happen at any moment of the level. While restrict to regular and multiple commands levels before, now the sequence levels can be played in random mode.Affected levels: Frevo, Handicraft, Hopscotch, Trio Elétrico, Kitchen and BerimbauOther improvementsGeneral volume adjustment optionSubtle sounds added while interacting with the interfaceFixes to the navigation using gamepadsInclusion of a border to display a synesthesic effect in the tutorialAnd other smaller improvements and fixes

We’re about two months away from the Alien Paradise’s release 2nd anniversary, the first game I’ve done with a score “big” enough to put on online stores, and also my first release as game studio.Even that I’m a rhythm games enthusiast and I’ve done some smaller ones in the past before bringing a synasthesic alien to Brazil, the whole creative process thought me in many ways, especially because I had to do everything by myself. And as expected, with each and every project we work on, our perspective on things get wider, and we start to reflect how we could have done something differently. With AnimaCircus, another game of the same genre released almost in the end of last year, I felt that I improved how I make games to rhythmic projects, as well I reflected upon problems that I’ve faced both as a player and as a developer in previous titles of mine, and it’s been a while I wanted to fix some of them. This is my way to say that I intend to bring some quality of life updates to Alien Paradise, with these expected improvements:A revamp of the latency system, to make the values setup easier and improve synchronizationSupport to different gamepad schemesRumble system for gamepads (that has to be activated by the player, obviously)Subtle sound effects during interface navigationOptimizations in general (eventual enhancements, fixes and code cleaning)I’m hoping to implement those changes (and maybe a few more things, who knows) as soon as possible, but because I want to add them to the game without causing any issues with save files or creating bugs, I prefer not giving a fixed schedule of when those updates will be out. That being said, I intend to give more details of those changes and give a heads up when they’re about to be in the game in the studio’s social media (I’ll try to do bilingual post as much as I can).I’m so thankful for everyone who gave Alien Paradise a chance, and I really hope the upcoming updates only improve your experience with the game.Cadu (the dev).

The E.T. is a jolly good fellow!Exactly one year ago Alien Paradise was released, and not only I wanted to celebrate this achievement but also add important updates, with a special surprise:Random ModeYes, a new mode! When playing in the "Quickplay" area, some levels will show the "Random Mode" option. Playing in this way, you won't have to know when the animations will occur.A little reminder that the scores obtained in this mode don't count for the Leaderboards.Among this new feature, those changes were implemented:Leaderboards: guess who's back, now using Steam's structure, to guaranteeit'll work in the best way possible. Remember that it only accounts for the scores from the Quickplay area while the Leaderboards are on.New title screen: giving more dynamism and energy when opening the game, while also you have the option of changing the game's language to make the life of anyone who wants to learn a foreign language easier.Controller navigation fixes: some problems when navigating using a controller were found in the Quickplay screen and solved.Wrong menu bug fix: solved an issue when player would be redirected to the wrong menu (going to the Story Mode while being in Quickplay).Button selection more blatant: to avoid doubt, the selected interface button now changes size and gets a more noticeable outline. And more subtle fixes and enhancements.I want to thank to everyone who have played Alien Paradise so much in this one year period, and to those who met the game before it "arrived our planet". And if you're getting to know the game now, welcome and I hope you have a lot of fun 😁🥰
