Why are these minimalist-styled simple-concept always so darned clever the more you play, and so darned hard?
Cos that's just the way you like it, chum!
This is a great example of simple seeming shooter where the trick is not just to add moar guns but to more importantly add more upgrades and infrastructure for your guns. You must utilise your limited space to make sure your guns don't overlap, are effective but also get enough power-ups behind them to keep up with the ever increasing bugs you have to destroy.
Oh, yeah, the other trick is not to get cocky and think you completed a level only to find there's a boss fight to get to but too many bugs to get there without your ship being reduced to a useless pop-gun when you do.
Very simple, very clever, very playable, very fun, very good game.
