🧜♀️Under The Blue Horizon Review 🪸
Such a cosy and relaxing game. I absolutely loved the art style and the pastel colours, which give the game a wonderfully calming vibe.
There are about 42 different fish to unlock, and the progression system is quite fun. You need to harvest a specific number of certain fish in order to unlock the next ones, which adds a nice sense of achievement. If you’ve played Rusty’s Retirement before, the mechanic will feel familiar to you.
You can also unlock other characters, each of whom adds something new to the game. For instance, one character unlock a clam tab that generates currency over time, while another unlocks a coral tab, which spawns specific fish based on the coral you place. My favourite has to be DJ Octo—he unlocks the music tab, and the soundtrack in this game is absolutely brilliant. The music is cosy, perfectly suited to the atmosphere, and the option to switch between tracks in the background was such a lovely touch.
My favourite fish to unlock were the dolphin and whale—they’re among the final ones you’ll unlock, and they were well worth the wait. Another standout feature of the game is the “New Game” mode. If you’ve unlocked all the walls (essentially space upgrades) and then start a new game, the experience changes completely. The water is different, there’s sea foam or clouds at the top, and you even get an extra mermaid, along with other surprises! I absolutely loved that twist and have really enjoyed playing the "New Game" mode with those added bonuses.
Enjoy the beautiful sea life 🐠
