The Astrolab

In this devlog, a first look at the Astrolab: the mid and end game layer of Pixel Quest: Guild, coming to the full version. It's where you choose the mechanics you want to play.WORK IN PROGRESSEvery time you push past your best stage, you earn an Astra. Astras are rare, so each one is a choice: spend it on the mechanic you want next. Nothing in the Astrolab resets when you Ascend. Every Ascension starts your run over, but the stars stay with you.WORK IN PROGRESSThe star map opens one station at a time as you reach further, and the fog hides what lies ahead. What to expectYour clicks now deal damage in battle. Auto-clickers won't help here, sorry.A creature crosses the battle with a full sack, and only your click can reach it. What else is it carrying?Health and shield potions appear during battle. What if the enemy gets there first?Every defeat against a boss makes the Party stronger against it. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger; here, what kills you does too.And a bit more...The Astrolab isn't in the demo, and it's still a work in progress, so art and numbers may change. The demo is free on Steam right now, and your save carries over to the full version.Wishlist Pixel Quest: Guild to hear when it launches.

Next Fest Update: The Guide Can Now Evolve

The Guide has spent the whole demo explaining how your guild works, and you could already hire him. For Steam Next Fest, he can finally grow: Soul Stones, a fusion of his own and a kit of portal skills.Your progress carries over to the full gameAny time invested in the demo won't go to waste; when the game launches, your save data will transfer to the full version.A hero you hire only onceThe Guide is a unique hero. There is only one of him, and he doesn't grow through regular fusion like the rest of your guild: he follows a path of his own, fueled by Soul Stones.A fusion of his ownSpend Soul Stones in the Fusion tab: every star unlocks a new skill and a new passive, so he changes how your party fights as he grows. Everything goes through a portalThe Guide's kit is built around the portals on the battlefield:He fires a volley of arrows. He lobs bombs through a portal. He opens a portal under the enemy at the front and drops it from the sky, further back. The first hero to fall in a stage comes back through a portal at full HP. He also shields the whole party, and an old contract he barely remembers signing keeps resetting skill cooldowns, for himself and for an ally.Soul Stones drop in battleDrops are rare, but you can increase your chances by investing in the Soul Stones tab in the Wizard Tower.Play it during Next FestAll of this is in the Pixel Quest: Guild demo for Steam Next Fest, October 19 to 26. Your guild keeps fighting at the bottom of your screen while you do other things, so the Guide can work his second job while you work yours. If he earns a spot in your party, adding Pixel Quest: Guild to your wishlist is the best way to help us.
