This was awesome and exactly as advertised. Cute, creative, and simple. I'd love to see more unique props but other than that, great game. I want more castles! :)
Nice relaxing game, music can be annoying i think, but otherwise nice props and stuff to work with, and future updates could add more. I saw a review saying controls are hard to use but if you go to advanced mode you can slow them down making it easier. For a small independent dev, this game is quite nice. Would recommend.
Edit: Would be nice if there was a terrain painter, so rather than having to choose one soil for the whole thing, we could paint it in different ones.
Terrarium describes itself as: “Cozy fires, books, and tiny glass bottles filled with endless possibilities. In Terrarium, make your vision a reality and craft the cozy dioramas you've always dreamed of. The only question is, what will you build first?” It’s a game tagged as sandbox, building, cozy, and design & illustration—perfectly setting the tone for what players can expect.
The game lets you create anything you can imagine within the confines of a little bottle, and the possibilities feel endless. The graphics are charmingly cute, and the overall experience is incredibly relaxing once you get the hang of it. However, the controls might feel a bit tricky at first. There’s a learning curve to figuring out how to navigate and design, but once you get used to them, the payoff is rewarding—you can craft some truly beautiful and creative dioramas.
If you're someone who enjoys games that inspire creativity and offer a calming atmosphere, Terrarium is definitely worth a try. It’s the kind of game where your imagination is the only limit.
**Added Features** -Can now Duplicate Props, Copying their Size and Rotation -Magnetize can now be held down to show you where the prop is going to land with a circle **Functional Changes** -Rotation as been changed, R and T now tilt the prop left or right based on the camera angle. Q and E still rotates based on the Props Y-Axis but was reversed, think of pushing the prop towards that direction (Q pushes the nearest part to your left, E is the opposite) --We need user Feedback on new rotation methods, if it's annoying you or if you prefer it better. Please let us know! Apologies for such a vicious change. -You can now Magnetize to the bottom of terrain! it works by shooting a raycast up first, THEN, shoots a raycast down if it doesn't hit anything **BUGS?** -placement sound apparently plays sometimes **BUG FIXES** -When picking up props, controller didn't match the original prop rotation -"Pick Up" prompt said "Place" when you have a prop in queue -Some pops had Magnetize points far below it (Just know those props shuffled positions in your bottles) -when in fullscreen mode, going into settings activated Borderless Fullscreen mode instead (Might still happen. Please tell us the steps you did to have it occured) -Magnetize shot perpendicular from the cursors "bottom", so rotating the cursor 90 degs to the left, shot the raycast to the right. It now ALWAYS shoots up and down. **QOL** -Controller speed is renamed Move/Resize Speed -Allow people to type in Rotation Speed and Move/Resize Speed for finer tuning -Scale Speed now says whether its on or off when hovering over symbol -You can make objects even smaller now -Small and Medium Props can now be scaled a bit bigger. Mushrooms the size of houses! -When you place a prop, your cursor's rotation no longer resets and keeps the previous rotation If you come across any bugs or if your save file breaks, we will try to trouble shoot and save your dioramas from destruction. Tutorial and Save System Rework 02/27/2025 The long awaited update! Sorry for the delay, this patch was supposed to be released about a week or two after the official release. But there was some problems with the save system that had to be addressed. Here is a list of things that we fixed! **GAME BREAKING** Save System: When updating the game, the save system would fail to transition to the new update. Meaning bottles would be lost or the game would instantly crash. It was because how Props and Soils were saved, and the m_File_ID would change every time we rebuild the game. This was fixed, hopefully. We apologize as this caused such a delay for this patch. We had this patch ready to be released two weeks after the release. **Critical** Tutorial was redone to explain better on how to play Terrarium. It's a bit longer, but it should hopefully answer more questions than before Quick Tips was added to jog players memories. These can be toggled off/on in the Settings>Gameplay menu. They can also be turned off. They will automatically turn off after completing it If props failed to load, they will be tossed out so they don't crash your game If for any reason your save fails to load and pops up with an error. There is a save.BACKUP.txt and save.ERROR.txt that is created. This will contain the error that caused it to fail, and you will still have your old worlds* **Major** There was a quest bug with bottle 5, you had to place Terra props instead of Prop props Mouse Focus: Could not click on any objects unless your camera was inside the bottle Added new music and replaced the old music. It's now more gentle and less smash your head into a table **QOL** Finetuned the camera, you can now get closer to your Cursor and it slows down any horizontal twists Play mode: Player POV was increased, it was far too close to be comfortable Set volumes to default at 50%, sorry for blowing your guys' ear drums out Game version is now displayed on the Main Menu for future trouble shooting Ter...
Hello everyone! We apologize for the inconvenience caused between the times 7 pm PST to 10 pm PST on Jan 26, 2025. We are learning to push updates onto steam and ran into a couple of rather... Mountainous issues. If you updated during that time; Please update your game now. This should revert the game to the previous 1.0.0 version. The recent update was to fix some bugs and redo the tutorial, but unfortunately how we save bottles doesn't work for new updates. We rolled back the update until we can find a way to save everyone's beautiful dioramas. For those who witnessed instant crashing upon launching the game, please let us know if you continue to see these issues; we would be happy to help see them resolved. As always we are continuing to learn how to provide the best experience for our players when playing our games and we appreciate your patience. Happy Building!
