About this game

What players are saying
Desktop Kitten Girl is one of a cute desktop pet utility game that available in steam that has a Pomodoro timer, a diary, and sticky notes feature!
As soon as you open the game, you’ll see this adorable chibi-style, white-haired cat girl with twin tails! Having her around means you’ll never feel too lonely at home—she can be your pet, little sister, girlfriend, or even daughter~ You can also give her a name you like! I’m so excited—with her around, loneliness is a thing of the past!
There are all kinds of interactions you can have with the Cat Girl. Hold down the mouse to pick her up and move her around. If you let go, she’ll fall (Ouch, she must feel a little pain! Even though her cute reaction is charming, don’t bully her too much—be nice to her, okay?)
You can also use the mouse wheel to zoom her in or out! She can be a “giant daughter” or a tiny little cat girl—both are equally cute!
Beyond that, she has other features too! Right-click to open the game menu: Activities, Manual, Chat, Tools, and Settings. One of the game’s highlights is its voice acting! The Cat Girl has voice lines to chat with you! The voice quality is great, and the voice itself is so pleasant to listen to—it always makes me melt at how cute she is!
In the Activities menu, you can assign the Cat Girl to battle, fish, cook, read, or sleep. Each activity takes 30 minutes, and you can queue up to 5 activities at once. Doing activities levels up her abilities, so you can grow and progress with her every day!
Battle
In battles, the Cat Girl fights all kinds of monsters, which helps her level up. As her battle level rises, she’ll learn even more magic skills, and you can freely mix and match them. Watching her try her best will definitely make you want to cheer her on, right?
Fishing
Just like us, the Cat Girl needs to eat, so you can send her fishing. The longer she fishes, the more types of fish she’ll unlock—you can check the Manual for info about the fish. I tried the English version, and the info links to foreign English websites, which is pretty handy! She’ll meow to tell you if she caught a fish, if it got away, or if she fished up trash.
Cooking
She can’t eat raw fish, of course—we don’t want her to get poisoned! That’d be sad. So she cooks it to kill all the bacteria and parasites, keeping her healthy. The longer she cooks, the more recipes she’ll learn, and you can check the Manual to see what she’s made and eaten. The Manual even includes the recipes, so you can cook the same things as her! It’s healthier to cook at home sometimes instead of ordering takeout, after all.
Reading
After exercising (battling) and eating her fill, you can have her read to make her smarter and learn new things—so she’ll have more topics to chat with you about! This probably unlocks slowly, since reading takes time, so be patient. A fun detail: you can also look up info about the books she’s read!
Dreaming/Sleeping
After a long day of hard work, let her rest and sleep. She’ll collect dream fragments—gather 4 fragments from a single dream, and you’ll find out what she dreamed about. Remember not to overwork yourself either—get enough rest okay?
Creative Mods
The game supports Steam Workshop. For now, there are only official mods, but I tried one where the Cat Girl transforms into a cute cat! Her activity animations even change too. Hope more mods come out later—if you’re interested, feel free to create some!
Logs
You can check her achievements, activity details, and summaries here.
For just cheap price, you can take this cute Cat Girl home~ I think it’s a steal—you won’t regret it!

The core experience centers around the titular kitten girl, a miniature anime-style witch-cat companion who appears directly on the desktop and reacts to your interactions. Clicking on her brings up menus, triggers different animations, or guides her to perform activities such as reading, cooking, fishing, sleeping, dancing, studying, or simply idling in place. Each activity unlocks a wide variety of collectible elements: themed animations, poses, accessories, voice lines, and cosmetic variations. The collection system is surprisingly substantial for such a small-scale title, and watching her engage in different routines becomes the main reward loop. The game avoids the stress of timers or failure states; instead, it uses gentle progression, offering new visuals or behaviors as players explore more options.
What helps Desktop Kitten Girl stand out from similar “desktop mascot” applications is its seamless integration with everyday utility. Alongside the character’s idle entertainment value, the game incorporates three practical features: a Pomodoro timer, a sticky-notes system, and a journal/diary function. These tools are accessible from the companion’s menu and offer simple productivity support that complements her presence. Instead of switching between apps or clogging the taskbar with clocks and notepads, players can keep these features floating alongside the character, making the experience feel more cohesive. It doesn’t transform the game into a productivity suite, but these additions give it more practical appeal than a purely decorative virtual pet.
Aesthetically, the game leans fully into a soft, pastel-tinted anime style, with smooth 2D animations and expressive character design. The kitten girl’s art direction is clearly crafted for comfort: gentle movements, playful expressions, and charming outfit sets that can be mixed and matched. Her presence is meant to be calming rather than distracting, and the animations maintain a balance that allows her to fade into the background when you’re focused, yet come alive with personality when you intentionally engage with her. The sound design supports this atmosphere with light voice clips and delicate effects that enhance interactions without overwhelming the desktop environment.
However, the experience does have inherent limitations. Desktop Kitten Girl is not a deep simulation or a narrative-driven project—it’s a decorative companion supported by small interactive events. The simplicity that makes it relaxing also means it may not sustain long-term engagement for players who prefer structured gameplay, progression systems, or meaningful challenges. While the Steam Workshop integration allows for custom animations and images, the ecosystem is still relatively small, so the variety of community-generated additions may take time to reach its full potential. Players who prefer minimalist desktops may also find the concept unnecessary or visually cluttering.
Despite these constraints, the game's reception suggests it succeeds at what it sets out to accomplish. It appeals to fans of cute virtual companions, collectors, and players who enjoy having a friendly presence on their screen while they work or unwind. The steady flow of animations, unlockables, and customization options provides enough content to reward repeated interactions, and the inclusion of optional productivity tools adds a thoughtful quality-of-life layer. The experience is comfortable, gentle, and aesthetically focused—a digital mascot designed to lift the mood and add charm to the everyday computer workspace.
As a whole, Desktop Kitten Girl is a delightful niche project that embraces its identity fully. It is not a game meant to be “beaten,” but one meant to be lived with—an interactive companion that brings lightness and personality to the desktop. For those who enjoy anime-style art, relaxing idle systems, and cozy digital mascots, it offers a uniquely pleasant addition to the daily digital environment. For those seeking depth or challenge, it may be too slight, but for its intended audience, it fulfills its purpose with warmth, whimsy, and unmistakable charm.
