This VN pleasantly surprised me!
While overall the writing felt too cliche at times with how quickly and straight-forward certain events progressed, I still found the portrayal of the suffocating daily life and societal issues truly well-done. The realism of it made the "illness/fantasy" parts of the game appear more plausible and I really liked the surreality caused by it.
The plot itself differs based on the player's decision and there are more options than I initially anticipated! The variety of the endings is very entertaining and I especially liked the messed up ones lol. The protagonist is pretty funny too. However I wish that some routes/endings (such as Baiye/White Night's route with the odd institution) were more developed, because the story has high potential (I'm particularly interested in what exactly the illness is and why literal government is involved).
Additionally, the visual presentation is very suitable with the pixelated photorealistic backgrounds in combination with either sillouettes or anime artstyle for characters. The soundtrack is excellent too, it has a lovely variety and the scary sound-effects are indeed horrifying. The atmosphere is ambient and awesome.
It's also important to mention that the English translation is rather shaky, though I found it understandable.
Altogether I quite enjoyed this story, it creates an interesting fusion between real life, the mental state and other... weird stuff; plus it has a captivating atmosphere and several plot branches.
