I have one peculiarity without which none of my projects can begin: before writing code or creating sprites, I must see the era. Feel its smell, hear its sounds, understand what the streets smelled like and what people whispered in their prayers...The Book of Plague 2 currently exists in draft form: diagrams, notes, rough sketches of mechanics, and cubes instead of sprites. It's too early to show it, and it's not very interesting anyway. But I really want to share with you what I have so far. So I started with the coverːsteamhappyː. The cover can tell you more about the game than a long text. It sets the tone for everything you can expect...The sequel to the game offers a journey into a truly interesting era that is unfairly overlooked. The period from the late 19th to the early 20th centuries is a gold mine for the next story. The Black Death is long gone, but it has been replaced by a completely different, equally deadly epidemic.What will change in The Book of Plague 2:Now, the doctor's main tool will be logic, not a scalpel. You will have to diagnose the disease based on symptoms, look for hidden causes, take risks, and make decisions blindly. A game about medicine should have more medicine in it!Resources matter. There will always be too few of them. And there will always be too many patients. Every bottle of medicine, every bandage, every minute counts. Full-fledged resource management will be added!Medical ethics will cease to be just a word. Euthanasia. Cruel methods of treatment. The right to decide who will live and who will die. We've experienced both funny and terrifying stories, met different heroes, healed a lot, and sometimes experienced disappointment (of course)...There were so many ideas for the game initially that they physically didn't fit into one project, and some weren't entirely appropriate for the era (someone still reminds me of a printed newspaper from 1346). Although, historical accuracy wasn't my initial goal.Given my personal interest in the subject matter and the support of players, I've decided to begin developing a sequel.My goal is to correct the shortcomings of the first game and create the perfect recipe for a plague simulator. And yes, it will be a completely different story, a different era (more modern), and a different setting - Ludwig got his ending, and the Scientist Doctor and the Raven Bane told theirs stories.I'm already actively working on the design document for The Book of Plagues 2, completely rethinking the approach to healing, resource management, and interaction with the world.
