Settings don't work, the entire game is basically in the trailer. The scares are cheap and loud, you get the entire story in like 4 total notes and it's too short to be interesting.
You play as Jason, a trucker just trying to make his delivery on time, keep his supervisor off his back, and collect a paycheck. The game isn’t interested in giving you Jason’s backstory or even hinting at what his future holds. It’s all about the events that happen on the road.
Set far up in the snowy north, the game drops you into an unsettling atmosphere. Your job is to deliver cargo along icy, treacherous roads during the dead of night. The setup is simple, the task seemingly mundane, but something feels wrong the moment you find yourself turning onto a road that shouldn’t be there. A road where the lost are swallowed whole.
The gameplay itself doesn’t attempt to reinvent the wheel. It’s a minimalist experience by design, especially with driving mechanics. Despite supposedly hauling a heavy trailer, you’ll find that the truck handles with disregard for physics—smoothly gliding around curves and effortlessly reversing without the slightest hint of struggle. The task is to drive on the road and dodge an occasional obstacle. Since there’s no damage, you can’t fail.
Gameplay alternates between driving and brief exploration segments. But since the game is very short, you only get to visit a gas station and a motel. Here, you’re allowed to step out of the truck and wander around, perhaps discovering a note that sheds some light on what’s going on. Unfortunately, the scares are not memorable. Too often, it relies on cheap jumpscares accompanied by ear-piercing sound effects.
Production-wise, this is a low-budget affair. There are no animations to speak of; everything from picking up objects to making a cup of coffee happens via sound effects and a temporary black screen. Even dialogue is delivered through subtitles. Oddly enough, this works in the game’s favor. Had the developers opted for poorly executed AI voiceovers, the experience would likely have suffered.
