Tidehaven is a gem for multitaskers. The Compact Mode allows for effortless play while you’re busy with other tasks. No stress, no constant alerts, just pure medieval vibes and great automation. From breeding horses to decorating every corner of your inn, there is so much to do. A solid 10/10 for chill vibes!
The game is absolutely fantastic (in my opinion) there’s not a trace left of the bugs from the demo. This must be the result of the team’s hard work. Congratulations to everyone who contributed.
The UI is incredibly poorly optimized. The cursor does not actually click on the item you hover over -- instead, you have to be about half an inch below on your screen to highlight a menu or item. And how does that work when the menu and settings are at the bottom of the screen, you might ask? Well, it doesn't. You just can't change your settings or access that menu at all. There also doesn't appear to be a save function, but the game doesn't tell you that. Clicking on the save starts you back from the beginning of that save, it doesn't overwrite the previous save point, despite only giving you three slots. How that's supposed to work, I couldn't tell you.
The game itself looks like it's more of an idle game than I realized, which is on me. The gameplay is...limited. Extremely limited. This is mostly a "make number go up" type game. And if you like those, which I do, you may enjoy this, if you can get past the major, glaring issues with the UI.
I don't know that I can, so I plan to wait for future updates in which the game is hopefully somewhat playable. These problems are too bad for even a beta, so I'm not thrilled to see them in a full release I just paid money for, when anything past alpha should have at least a stable UI that doesn't actively work against the playability of the game.
It's not like I regret the purchase, per se, and I'm willing to give it time and see if things improve, but please, if you're on the fence about purchasing it, consider waiting until later. Right now, this isn't worth any money at all, even on sale. It's legitimately more or less unplayable, and the devs should have done better.
