Build a sprawling empire by strategically placing buildings across hexagonal terrain and watching resources accumulate automatically. The game blends light strategy with incremental progression, allowing you to optimize your layout actively or let offline growth handle expansion while you're away. Best suited for players who enjoy the satisfying loop of exponential growth paired with spatial planning.
About this game
Idle Empires is an incremental strategy game where you build and expand a thriving empire, one hex at a time. Place buildings, gather resources, and upgrade your empire automatically over time. Whether you’re actively playing or letting progress tick while idle, your empire is always growing.
The first Steam Play Test is now Live. You should now see the request access button on the games store page. Don't worry if you've not yet got access as giving players access is random on who it selects, the number of players picked will be kept low to start with to make sure every thing runs as smooth as possible. 🎮 Many thanks— Vethon
🚀 That's right! The first Steam Play Test is just around the corner and you can register your interest to take part. Players will be picked at random once the play test starts, the number of players picked will be kept low to start with to make sure every thing runs as smooth as possible. You can request access via the games store page.🧠 The game is not finishedNot even close to being finished. As I play the game myself, I'm finding things I want to change myself, for example I am not happy with how Wonders currently work, so that is something I intend on reworking. I am also going to change the way you are limited to the number of buildings that you can build, which is tied to happiness, I am going to change that however I have not yet got around to that. So there's plenty to improve on in my eyes, don't expect a fully working game or something that is bug free.💬 FeedbackYour feedback is greatly appreciated, so don't hesitate to submit yours, either via Discord or via the in-game feedback form. All feedback is welcome, maybe you've found a bug or just want to give your opinion on a certain part of the game. Maybe the games not what you thought it was, or it's not up to your expectations, then submit your reason and let me know so that I can iterate and improve.🎮 See you soon in game— Vethon
Hey everyone,It’s been a little while since the first dev post, and we’ve got a ton of exciting updates to share — so let’s dive right in!🕰️ Four Ages, One EmpireI've now expanded the game to include four fully playable eras:Stone AgeBronze AgeIron AgeClassical AgeEach brings new resources, buildings and wonders — and sets the stage for the future of Idle Empires, next up, The Renaissance. If you’ve been testing the prototype, you’ll already know how progression is starting to shape up!🌐 Multiplayer FoundationsSince the last update, I've added:Server support with in-game chat so players can connect, discuss, and maybe brag a little.Player trading, which just went live this past weekend! ⚖️ We’re still tuning it, so keep an eye out for a future post diving into how the system works and how you can make the most of it.🐛 Bug Fixes & QoLI've been squashing bugs left and right and adding tons of quality-of-life improvements based on feedback. Fixing bugs, adding QoL and polish are important so that will be something that gets addressed before moving onto newer content.🔮 What’s Coming Next🧪 Steam Playtest — Coming in July!I'm planning to host a Steam Playtest later in July, opening up the game to a wider group of players. This will be your chance to jump in, try things out, and give feedback that directly shapes the future of the game. There will probably be another Playtest after that, as we keep refining and expanding the game — so if you miss the first, there’ll be another chance to join.🚀 Early Access on the HorizonI'm starting to think seriously about launching into Early Access, probably in the Autumn. The plan is to build momentum gradually: polish the core, release new content in waves, and bring in players who want to be part of the journey from the beginning.🌲 Tech Tree OverhaulRight now, the tech tree is functional but basic — more of a checklist than a web of decisions. That’s going to change. I'm planning a complete rework that makes progression more strategic...
