Trinkets 101: A Groundskeeper's Guide

Hey future mowing masters! I wanted to share a bit more about one of the core loops for Master of the Mow, Trinkets. While mowing the overgrown grounds of the manor, you will frequently uncover little objects shining in the distance. Trinkets will appear as you clear different areas, popping out from lawns as small rewards for keeping the mower moving. (Sometimes mundane, sometimes shiny, but everything has value!)Trinkets come in different tier values, with higher-value finds appearing as you make your way onto the property. Early areas may reveal more common items, while deeper parts of the property can hide rarer discoveries worth more when sold. (Learning where specific trinkets tend to appear can make a day in a certain region become highly profitable.)(Scanning the Area can sometimes reveal treasure troves of trinkets that have appeared while mowing.)There are also plenty of nooks and crannies tucked away across the manor for players who like to explore for rarer trinkets and valuables. Some may be hidden off the beaten path, or behind locked doors. Or maybe you just stumble across wads of cash. There will be quite a few more trinkets to discover in the final game of course, but what would you like to see pop out while mowing? And just a reminder that the first playtest is almost ready to be shared (hopefully), so stay tuned as I'll be posting here first about it.Cheers,David

Why Does the Grass Keep Growing Back?

Small Development FAQHello everyone! Thank you so much for your interest in Master of the Mow! Here’s a small FAQ about the development questions I’ve been getting recently, and what the future plans are:Why mowing?Because mowing is weirdly satisfying. Or I should say, it's satisfying when you only press a button!I wanted to build a game around that simple feeling of visible progress, but then push it a little further with upgrades, tools, treasure hunting, and a strange manor mystery layered on top. Also, drawing patterns into grass with a trimmer is just fun.Why do the grounds reset every morning? That’s one of the main mysteries.Every morning, you awake to find all of your work has reset. You get to keep all your earnings, tools, and upgrades though, so each day becomes another chance to push farther into the estate. And somewhere inside the manor, someone is there.Who are they? What do they have to do with the grounds resetting? You’ll have to find clues around the estate to learn more. What do you actually do in the game? You play as the unnamed groundskeeper, restoring the overgrown grounds of an old manor estate one section at a time. You’ll cut grass, clear trash, dig up buried trinkets, unlock tools like the rider mower and wheelbarrow, and discover 80+ upgrades for your gear, tools, and equipment. As you progress, you’ll open locked gates, explore more of the estate, and uncover more about why the grounds keep resetting. Is the game stressful or timed? Not at all.Even though the game has a day/night cycle and the grounds reset each morning, you can take things at your own pace. The loop is meant to feel calm, satisfying, and rewarding. You can settle into the rhythm of the work, upgrade over time, and make progress however you want. What’s coming next?Development is going well, and I should have more news about the first public playtest right around the corner.Once the playtest becomes official, I’ll also be setting up the game's Discord so you all can follow devel...
