Bug fixes and some quality of life improvements. Features Rebuilt Qubit Shop. Your current loadout and the new offers now sit in two separate rows. Plan buys and sells freely and undo anything. Nothing is charged until you press Continue, and rerolling resets your plan. Calmer combo card. The full COMBO card now appears when a combo starts and at the 5x, 10x, 15x and 20x milestones. The rest of the time it stays compact, with a quick pulse on each match. Smoother Run mode. The allied fleet and other background effects are much cheaper to draw, which raises frame rates, most noticeably at high resolutions. We also gave a little more visibility to the boss attacks in the final chapter, and smoothed the emergency shop. Menu polish. Cleanups and visuals in the menus. Fixes Older Intel Macs (roughly 2014-era, with Iris or HD Graphics) that crashed on launch now start automatically with a compatibility renderer. Japanese and Chinese text now shows at regular weight instead of very thin. The chapter report now shows the qubits you earned that chapter, not a number reduced by your shop spending. Runs saved before this update show "Unknown" until the next chapter. Powerup badges no longer overflow the HUD sidebar. An unavailable powerup now shows WAIT, and its tooltip gives the real reason. Button prompts now follow the controller you are actually using, so PlayStation prompts no longer switch to Xbox when Steam Input adds a virtual controller. Controller button remapping in Settings works again, and Esc now cancels a remap that is waiting for a button. Pressing Pause or Confirm while a story intro, chapter screen or shop is on screen, or fading out, no longer resumes the game underneath it. Challenge Select tier tabs no longer run off-screen in Welsh, German and Spanish. Balance Boss repaints are fairer: a boss will no longer paint over a shape type that an in-flight or upcoming shape still needs, or a face a shape is docking into. The Dual Circuit pair bonus no longer coun...
RelNote PlayTest Added challenges to give you run variety once you’re crushing the runs, chapter restarts to help you get there more regularly, slammer slams and a bunch of shop improvements. Features Challenges. A new mode of four tiers of twists on the story campaign, unlocked from the main menu. Rush, Marathon, an Octahedron-on-every-level run, Spiral Season (every chapter is a finale), and more. Each challenge opens with a briefing card, keeps its own records and win count, and has its own clear achievement. Chapter restarts. Die in a story run and the death screen offers a restart from the start of the current chapter, keeping your score, qubits, lives, and power-ups from that point. The pause menu gets a quick Restart Chapter button too. Qubit Shop cart. Pick power-ups with a +/- stepper, change your mind at no cost, and commit everything on Continue. Cards show stack counts and why something is blocked. A reroll button swaps the offers for an escalating qubit price, and a celebration card sums up what you bought. Music Gallery redesign. Track list on the left, details on the right. Preview a track, or jump straight into Quick Play with it. Hidden-face glow (Easy only). A soft glow behind the cube shows the colors of the faces you cannot see, crossfading as you rotate. It stays off during Phantom Cube. Tutorial now teaches next-shape strategy and introduces power-ups when they first matter. Carry an active power-up through a whole chapter without using it and the game reminds you of its activation key. Fixes Pressing confirm, pause, or back while the Qubit Shop is open no longer unpauses the game or drops you back to the menu. Pressing back during a story intro or chapter transition no longer reaches the game underneath. Extra lives from Fast Recovery and from the pre-boss shop are now counted correctly, and the life bar refreshes properly after a chapter crossing. Your combo no longer expires during the level transition and the pause before the first shape of...
This is our biggest update since EA started! We added a guided tutorial, Spiral mode, three new power-ups, per-run Story difficulty, and better Steam Cloud saves, along with fixes for match timing, spawning, input, and leaderboards. New Features Guided tutorial: Learn rotation, matching, cues, slamming, and powerups at your own pace. Tutorials can be replayed from the main menu, and a short intro now plays when an Octahedron first appears. New play modes: Spiral, and a revised Octahedron mode. Three new power-ups: Dual Circuit: Fires a timed volley across paired axes. Quantum Buffer: Delays the next shape by one spawn. Polarity Inverter: Swaps all opposite-face symbols. Gold shapes: Rare, high-value spawns begin appearing from level 6 in Quick play. Updated Run presentation: Chapter intros and interstitials now use 16-bit cutscenes, new art, procedural backgrounds, signal degradation effects, and a generated alien character. Run summary: Compare your score against your personal best, track your next unlock, and retry immediately. Accessibility: Added high-contrast shape textures, a dashed laser cue for match eligibility, and reduce-motion and reduce-flash options for boss and finale effects. HUD improvements: Added level and Story progress, a lane compass in the NEXT panel, and a power-up slot with key hints and ready/spent/empty states. Shop updates: Extra Life is now a standard Story shop item, and the Qubit Shop has updated visuals. Audio controls: Skip tracks and adjust audio settings from the pause menu. Leaderboards: Grouped by mode, with a separate local board for Story. Fixes Improved match judging at impact. Rotations completed just before arrival now count, stale matches no longer remain open, and docking starts and ends on the arrival frame. Fixed gamepad input after unpausing, duplicate slam and pause inputs, and controller-disconnect dialog rendering. Improved custom keybinds. Remapped slam inputs work consistently, “None” bindings no longer cause error...
