Nermius tasks you with piloting customizable combat shells through procedurally-varied alien environments, collecting upgrades and facing escalating enemy waves in this ASCII-styled roguelite. Between runs, you'll unlock new shells and planets while uncovering corporate mysteries through dialogue choices that add narrative depth to the survival loop. The retro aesthetic and atmospheric soundtrack create an engaging, contemplative pace that rewards both quick sessions and extended play.

From my first couple hours of gameplay, it has gone by very well. I found the art style and mechanics quite cool! Mainly brought to the game because it features an ASCII-style world, but I honestly see the retro pixel art style that this game gives.

The background music and sound effects really fit into this retro game feel that I like about this game. It's not super intense, rather slightly calming amidst the utter chaos on my screen, that of which is a load of cool-designed pixel art enemies on a really sick pixel art background!

I think for the price that this game is at, it is really worth it. Haven't had the chance to try out all the worlds yet, but can't wait to get on and do so. There does seem to be quite more content world wise than what I expected going into this, which is cool! From what I can tell, there are 5 playable worlds as of this review, a few locked under certain requirements, but I like the fact I could come on and play the ASCII world along with the base world.

Certain aspects aren't 100% clear to me right away. There are two different currencies you get whilst playing, one called SPX and another yellow coin-looking one. These are these from what I can assume out-of-game upgrades you can get with these currencies that make your later runs easier. I think. Please correct me if I am wrong. I don't want to mislead anyone here.

A single issue I had was when I killed one of the mini-bosses in the first world, it dropped its chest within a prop on the map, which unfortunately meant I couldn't grab it, but it wasn't the end of the world. I have so far only made it to what I think is the final boss twice, but have only lost there. However, I did get closer to beating the boss in the ASCII world the run I just had.

One thing I can see is that there are in-game achievements but none actual achievements on steam for this game. I would love to see this added at some point!

Having a cool time with this game though! Because I like the art style, the game direction and the sound design, on top of having no proper problems with this game, I would recommend it to anyone who has a little bit of money and would like to try out a wonderfully built casual roguelike pixel art retro game!

Thank you Devs for this amazing game :]

In early access and already so many maps? The planet ASCII is simply wonderful, I love it. I haven't unlocked all the planets and all the characters yet (I think there are secret ones), but I like it; it's really good for EA. I liked the dialogue options; is this some kind of RPG in the game? I don't know, but it's cool the lore is even getting interesting.
There's not much music in the game, but it's well done. It's not really my thing, though. I just turn it off and play with my own music from playlist playing in the background. It s still pretty good! I also see an endless mode, but I rly don't know how to activate it yet.

soo waiting for achievements now

Colony Ops: Pirates, Sieges and Living Worlds

This update adds new colony mechanics, terraforming, city defenses, interplanetary assault and a pirate stronghold to Colony Ops, along with balance changes and a large batch of fixes. Colonies Epidemics. Disease spreads between colonies along roads and supply routes. The MEDBAY cures it. QUARANTINE stops the spread and also stops trade with that colony. Refugees. Refugee columns move between colonies. Overcrowded colonies gradually lose population they have no housing for. Industrial smog. Heavy industry pollutes nearby land and lowers farm output inside the affected area. The AIR SCRUBBER removes it. Credit line. You can borrow credits from factions. Interest rate and limit depend on your reputation. Missed payments lower reputation, and a large overdue debt allows the lender to take a colony. Memorial Spire. Can be built once per planet, in the capital. Raises mood in all colonies on the planet. Cannot be demolished. Workforce. Ore rigs, extractors and foundries require workers from the colony population. The SHIFTS order (EVEN / METAL / ORE) sets which buildings are staffed first when there are not enough workers. While you were away. After 10 or more minutes away from a planet, Colony Ops opens a summary window with the time you were gone, income earned and events that happened. Identical events are grouped, and threats are listed first. Crisis and weather choices open after the window is closed. Terraforming Dead worlds can be terraformed with ATMO PROCESSORS and an orbital mirror. A full cycle takes about 24 hours of real time and continues while the game is closed. Water returns in stages: steam, meltwater lakes, rivers, then sea level rises. Colonies are not flooded. At 45% progress an airless world gets an atmosphere, with clouds, rain, surf and auroras. Terraforming is available on X-01-ETHA, VS-13951 and KEPLER-63F. Combat City turrets. SENTRY, RAIL and FLAK turrets can be placed around cities. A turret at 0 HP is disabled for 90 seconds and then comes b...

CRT Toggles and UI Text

Display settings The CRT filter is now two separate toggles instead of one. SCREEN CURVE - barrel distortion and grain. Turn it off for sharper text. CRT-FX - the scanline video overlay on top of the picture. Both apply instantly, no restart needed. If you had the old CRT filter switched off, both toggles stay off after updating. Readability Interface text across Protocol 105 and the Galaxy Map was too small to read on many screens. It has been reworked. Planet names on the system map, station and hauler markers, action slot lines and the SAC Exchange panel are all larger. Planet descriptions no longer shrink to unreadable size and cut off mid-sentence. The info panel now uses the full height available, and text never drops below a legible minimum. The deploy button no longer overlaps its own subtitle when the label wraps to two lines. System labels and the system dossier in the Galaxy Map are larger, with label collision spacing adjusted to match. The Galaxy Map controls hint was 6px and effectively invisible on 4k. It is now readable. We also continue to work on improving optimization on Steam Deck.
