Just Dig strips down mining to its essence: hold your mouse button to extract ore, then invest earnings into drill upgrades and modular components that synergize together. The game emphasizes building your own optimized drill configuration rather than passive progression, making it best suited for players who enjoy active clicking and deep mechanical customization over traditional idle mechanics.

3 hours in..

NOT ONE SECOND OF THIS GAME IS AN IDLER. Game doesn't even progress if the window is focused. <__<

Can't describe is as a clicker either. It's just you, holding left click on the screen. FOR HOURS.

Promising game otherwise. But only if you like games that don't tell you what stuff is for, or how to progress, or any kind of explanation really. Not even controls.

Also what kind of game doesn't even account for "Esc" to close the damn windows.

Also it would be intuitive to have 1/2/3/4/5/6 set as shortcuts for the screens but NOoOOOooOoo.

Unfortunately missed the notif. about AI crap being worked into the game - but even if it hadn't, this would suck.

After 1.5 hours of really mostly staring at the drill while holding down the mouse button, all I have to show for "progress"is:

- the most frustratingly tiny multipliers ever (think 3% crit-chance increase - and crit doesn't even do much)
- a still painfully slow pace at mining anything but stone (9 seconds for 1 iron...)
- zero proper idea what half of the mechanics are (you can make filaments. What for? No clue. You can activate auto-drilling with energy points. How do you get those? No clue. Wouldn't matter anyway because...)
- AUTO-DRILLING DOESN'T WORK IF THE GAME IS MINIMIZED -> check the forums. Can't make some dev's ideas up, I swear.

I play lots, and I mean LOTS of those kinds of games. I don't mind a bit of waiting, grinding, etc. - it's usually the point.
But this is one of those typical "What do you mean, I should actually plan out player progress mathematically?"-titles that figured if you throw some AI-generated pixel art into an engine, you can ask money from people.

I mean... they didn't even bother to add a few textboxes explaining their own items... Even at sale price, you're better off giving this one a pass.

I hate to give this game a bad review because it did look good from the store page; however, looks can be deceiving. You're thrown into the game without a clue of what to do. Took me a second to figure out I had to hold my left mouse button to mine the blocks. Progression is atrociously slow even with Modules equip. Each drill head only gives you a Crit multiplier. Why not make a new drill head give mining speed, extra ore on mining and even more extra ore on Crit? Right now you're lucky to Crit for extra ore with a new drill head.

TL;DR SLOW at a snails pace forcing you to hold your mouse button down for hours, Idling is a feature you have to unlock down the road (don't know how far), buggy, and other features of the game are passives that you feed ore/other overtime.

The biggest downfall for me is having to work for Auto Mining. This should be the first thing that's unlocked. I have to sit here, hold my mouse button down for a long time to unlock Auto Mining through Dark Matter. Game is marked as an idler but the idle part starts down the road.

There's some bugs to cheese the game too. Toggling AutoCraft On and off while it is currently crafting won't take any Ore cost from you. Basically you can craft for free. While AutoCraft is off and you're in the middle of crafting you can change the Tier of the module you're creating to the max Tier and it will craft the T7 module when you aren't close to meeting the criteria. Having 3 T7 Stone modules sadly will slightly increase your mining speed but won't allow you to gain ore faster.

Hold off until things change. I would've recommended if Auto Mining was unlocked from the start. I don't want to duct tape my finger to my mouse just to have continuous progression.

@Dev Response: Thanks for those changes. However, if I still have to unlock Auto Mining far down the road I'm not going to want to play.
