I always consider finding games/idlers like Desktop Friend, hidden gems (found several pages deep on SteamPeek!)

Much like the description says, it plays like a desktop Tamagotchi, with interactions and care tasks. There's also accessories (hats, glasses, etc), changing the backdrops and adding little decorations to the scene; these are bought by accumulating heart points gained while looking after your pet, and they tick along when you have auto mode on too.

There's two cats and a panda to choose from and the ageing progresses on a daily basis, so you will have the same pet for quite awhile. For those interested in mini games in their idler, there isn't any here, but I found the interaction and decorating enough to break up any monotony of whatever I was doing at the time.

If you enjoy cute pet idlers, I definitely recommend giving this one a go!

For the first 6ish hours, it ran well. Now the game will not load at all. Its cute and adorable when it loads though.

Thank you so much to everyone who followed the development so far. Your feedback will be super important to guide the next steps — so share your thoughts, ideas, and let’s keep growing Desktop Friend together!

Auto Mode Update – Your Pet’s Got You Covered!

Too busy but still want your pet around? That’s exactly why I added Auto Mode! When you turn it on, your pet will take care of themselves — eating, drinking, bathing, even healing when they’re sick — all automatically. The best part? You’ll keep earning hearts while Auto Mode is on, so your progress never stops. This way, your little buddy stays happy and healthy, even if you’re deep into work, gaming, or just away from the keyboard. No stress, no worries.I’m super happy with how this feature turned out, because it makes the game way more chill and accessible. And of course, you can always switch Auto Mode off whenever you want to jump back in and take care of things yourself. What do you think? Would you keep Auto Mode on, or only use it when life gets busy?

Big Customization Update – Backgrounds & Pet Colors!

Hey everyone! I’ve just pushed a big update to the game, and I’m super excited to share it with you. Until now, you could only customize your pet with stuff like hats and glasses… but that felt kinda limited, right? So here’s the big news: 👉 You can now buy and unlock background decorations to make your scene truly yours. 👉 You can also change your pet’s color, giving them a whole new vibe.I’ve been having so much fun testing different combos, and honestly, it makes the whole game feel way more alive. This is just the beginning — I’ll keep adding new items and styles as development goes on.As always, I’d love to hear what you think! Which backgrounds or pet colors would you like to see in the future? Drop your ideas and let’s make this even cooler together.
